The class in the Presbyterian Sunday school taught by Miss Katherine Kniese, will hold a market Saturday afternoon in the Kiser building. The Cambridge City Gas company reports the gas pressure as 15-8 pounds stronger than at this time last year. An all-day meeting of the Dorcas Aid society of the Christian church was held Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Italph Tague, on Front street, with tweijiy-five ladies in attendance. The day was spent in work on a quilt to be sent to Mrs. Meulah McGrew of Chicago, and other sewing. Following the dinner hour the annual election of officers was held at which Mrs. Will Sowers was elected president: Mrs. Squire Cornthwaite, vice-president; Mrs. John Parrish, s -cretary, and Mrs. W. A. Johnson, treasurer. Saw Mill Starts. r'e Mustin saw mill, which for several weeks was out of commission owing to a broken saw, lias resumed operaon?. A new saw has replaced the old ' iu and with their store of lots, tht r' v.- no question but that they will "saw word." and that to good advantage, the- -p"-;! aider of the winter. Mrs. Iawre:uv Ohniit, who has been quite sick at the home of her parents Mr. and Mr.-'. Will Conklin, has so far recovered, that she has been able to return to her home. Rev. H. T. Graham of Kuightstown, former pastor of the Presbyterian church, will occupy the pulpit in the church at this place Sunday, both morning and evening. Russell Dennis has purchased of Attorney J. C. Dodson, two lots on Mulberry street, and will erect a cottage in the spring. Mrs. McGraw Entertains. A happy company of little people was that entertained Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. K. R. McGraw, f other son Jean, who was that day, five years old. Childish games quickly passed the time, while the pretty decorations in the Christmas colors, gave additional pleasure. At the close of the afternoon, cake, ice cream and candy were served from the dining table, upon the center of which was the birthday cake, upon which burned five pretty candles. ECONOMY Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stanley returned to Richmond Wednesday evening and went form there yesterday morning to their home in Indianapolis. Iva Jacobs, Squire Frazior and Kelso Mendenhall were at Richmodn Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ora Edwards entertained at dinner recently, J. O. Edwards and daughter Mary, and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oler and children. Miss Grace Garrison arrived home from Mantpelier Thursday evening. Charles Swether, coal mine operator, announced today that Russia had contracted with him for 50.000 tons of coal for shipment to Odessa. NASHVILLE Tho Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis railroad has announced that through the enlargement of its shops at Nashville the company would shortly begin building its own freight cars. This will add about five hundred men to the shop force. CHICAGO Thirty thousand tons of standard section steel rails for shipment to Australia and Russia have been contracted for and are being rolled in Chicago and suburban mills. The lands, estimated to contain 300,000,000 tons of readily available ore, have been under lease to the Steel corporation since . 1907. NEW YORK The Northwestern Ice company has declared the regular quar terly dividend of 3 per cent and payable December 15, to holders of record December 12. CINCINNATI The Moscow Mining company, with properties in Beaver county, Utah, announces the payment of an initial dividend of 36 per cent. PITTSBURG, The Pittsburg Plate Glass company has declared the regular quarterly divident of 1 per cent on common stock, payable January 1, to holders of record December 16. CHICAGO Local bankers are debating the question of dropping the custom of charging for collection on out of town checks. The new banking law provides that federal reserve banks must receive checks at par, which means free collection.
