"Faith, Hope, Charity." In one of the current magazines there is
rery unusual cartoon which compels your atten-
;ion. "Faith, Hope and Charity" is its title
'Faith," three young children in a room about
jvhose door the wolf of poverty has been snarl-
jig, gazing with round-eyed expectation at the iheerless fireplace, above which tattered stockings are hung; "Hope," the careworn, dejected mother, standing by a frosted window, gazing .into the snowstorm; "Charity," an unexpected visitor on the doorstep, depositing his heavy oasket filled with Christmas good cheer prepar
atory to announcing his arrival by a knock on the
ioor, in answer to the faith of the half -starved youngsters and the hope of the young mother.
In many a Richmond home Christmas morn
ing the faith of children and the hope of poverty:rushed mothers will be .shattered unless the
readers of this newspaper play the role of Santa
Claus, and for one child to be unhappy on the
anniversary of the day the shepherds saw the
Christ child in the manger is nothing short of a crime.
The Palladium is prepared to bring Christmas Joy to as many poor children of Richmond as is
possible and much depends upon the people of Richmond and Wayne county as to the extent of The Palladium's undertaking. Wednesday and Thursday of this week the Chicago Tribune's famous moving pictures of actual war scenes in stricken Belgium will be produced, both afternoon and evening, at the Murray theatre and all of the proceeds from these performances will go into a special fund with
which to purchase Christmas gifts for the poor kiddies of this city. Do your share in helping The Palladium make its undertaking a success by witnessing these re
markable films.

The following poem has been submitted with the signature CORA at
tached: Sacrifice. Life ttull at the most? And you an idle boast? Deep wrong deem to forgive? Injustice feign to forget? When comes the cruel test; When life ebbs its best. When love speeds the way, And you must bide the day; Nothing to atone; nothing to regret ; When there's naught to forgive. And you never can forget. CORA.

PREBLE TRAVELERS PRAISE CORN TOUR
NEW PARIS, O., Dec. 8. The Preble county party who took advantage of the special rates on the Buckeye corn special trip returned Saturday evening and were profuse in their praise of the manner in which the tour was conducted. Miss Marie Fitzwater was a member of the party. She was a contestant in the baking contest under the auspices of the Commercial club, and was awarded the free trip to Washington, but a technicality, discovered after her name was made public, the trip was reawarded to Miss Mildred Clark. The remaining members of the Commercial club feeling that this was an injustice to Miss Fitzwater, made up a purse and purchased her ticket so that she might take advantage of the trip. She was a very happy young
lady when advised of the present, and wishes to express her gratitude for the favor and the splendid trip.

Sore Throat Don'ts. When the children have sore throat, don't blister their necks with lamp oil. Don't torture them with a foul smelling piece of fat meat, wrapped about the neck:. Don't imagine there is medical virtue in an old sock or piece of red flannel. Don't believe in antiquated superstitions. A sore throat is a serious matter and ia not to be healed by such make-believe rem
edies. The use or such methods is simply putting the patient to needless torture. Use a little sore throat wisdom and give themTONSILINE and the throat will heal quickly. 25 cents and 50 cents. Hospital 8ize ti.00. All Druggists.
