WEATHER ASSISTS WOMEN WITH SALE OF XMASSTAMPS Tail of Snow Carries Seasons Message to Prospective Purchasers Seals Sell Rapidly. The cover of Blush on sidewalks this morning did not lnterfer with the Domestic Science campaign to sell six thousand Red Cross seals today, but the line snow which remained on trees, roofs and grass plots was regarded optimistically by the workers as being
appropriate to Impress the Christmas spirit upon prospective purchasers. Mrs. Edward Schalk. who has charge of the seal campaign for the Domestic Science association, has received no reports by which an estimate of the sales can be made, but she said late today that practically all the women who received supplies yesterday had started out this morning. The antituberculosis campaign received a boost from the wife of Governor Ralston today. Mrs. Ralston Issued letters to the county sales agents of Indiana encouraging them to greater efforts. Mrs. Ralston Writes. As a member of the Indiana Red Cross Seals commission, Mrs. Ralston eald in part: Indiana is undoubtedly making progress in Its war against consumption. This Is an age of prevention. We have come to realize the truth of the old adage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." This applies more strongly to tuberculosis than to any other disease. Your enthusiasm in this cause for humanity will no doubt extend to the sub-agents, and the slogan that has been adopted in Indiana "ten per capita" will more than be fulfilled. Sincerely, JENNIE ( RALSTON. A corps of workers from the Citizens Union went out today under the direction of Mrs. W. W. Anderson, who ' was appointed by Mr. Schalk to take charge of the sales to the colored citizens. Mrs. Schalk will receive reports tomorrow afternoon at the Commercial lub rooms. Dr. S. E. Bond, county sales agent, said that the disposal of stamps in the city and county is satisfactory. About eleven thousand seals have been called for. Much heavier demands are expected within the next week.
