SECRETARY EXPLAINS CHARITY DISPOSAL
Constructive charity and social service work was explained to members of the West Richmond Friends meet
ing last night by the secretary of the
central bureau. Lindley hall chapel was filled, the audience consisting mostly of members of the church. The secretary said that Richmond would be removed from the top of the list of pauperized towns in Indiana by removing the causes of pauperization such as promiscuous individual work and unsystematic accounting. "I could take the thousands of dollars the bureau has collected and start out in certain localities to distribute It," Mr. Melpolder said. "By nightfall I would be penniless and yet I would not have given out a dollar for anything not needed. This is practically the same principal which promiscuous Individual work carries out."
BY LEASED WIRE. NEW YORK, Dec. 4. "Rube" Marquard, left handed pitcher for the New York Giants, has signed a contract to pitch for the Brooklyn Federals, according to an announcement made this afternoon by Robert Ward, president of the Brookfeds. Ward would not state the amount that Marquard would get but intimated It was a large sum. It is estimated that the eccentric left handed pitcher's salary will be $10,000. It is doubtful if Marquard will be allowed to pitch for the Federals with

Approximately $9,500 was spent in November elections to elect 140 officers of the county and townships. Only a few candidates have failed to file expense accounts. These men ran for minor officers such as townchip advisory board, road supervisors and county council where no money is usually spent. There were 450 candidates for office on all the tickets. About 400 have filed expense accounts. More than two-thirds of the expense accounts

less than $3. Of the candidates who campaigned for their offices, most of them spent between $25 and $50, a number between $75 and $100 and a few above $100. Three candidates spent more than $200. G. O. P. Spends Little. The Republicans expended less money than the other two parties. The Democrats came second and the expenditures. Prosecutor Reller said today that no action would be taken against candidates who have failed to file expense accounts unless it is found that they have done so with knowledge of the law and had some reason for withholding their accounts. The delinquents will be notified and asked to comply with the statute. The $9,500 spent on the election represents the expenditures of individual candidates and of the central committees of all parties. Some of the candidates listed their donations to their party thus making it impossible to secure accurate figures. The cost tf the election to the county is not included.
signed up by the Giants last spring, under a three-year contract. Marquard joined the Giants in 1908. He came fro mthe Indianapolis club. BENDER DESERTS. CHICAGO. Dec. 4. Charles Bender, Connie Mack's Indian pitcher, will sign with the St. Louis Federals within a few days, according to President James Gilmore of the Federal league, who today sent a telegram from Baltimore announcing the fact. Bender, the message said, was eager to join his teammate, Eddie Plank, on the Mound City team.

Who Wants To Adopt Child Bright Girl Hants New Home
A pretty, blue-eyed girl, 6 years old, is looking for a home. She started to school last September. Although she studies the alphabet with her class, she has already learned "to read and write. The child, whose name is withheld to save her embarrassment in later life, and on the part of her guardian now, does not know where her mother and father are. She remembers neither of them. Because her mother was unable to care for her, she was adopted into a good home, where she is the only child. Her foster mother has trained her carefully. The woman who has been caring for

her has been rapidly failing until her health is so bad that she can not care
for the child. She told Mrs. Candler, secretary of the board of children's guardians, that she would have to give the child to another family. Mrs. Candler . is now looking for a good family in which to place the child. By "good family" Mrs. Candler says wealth is not taken into consideration. The family must be one where cleanliness and good home conditions prevail. The applicant must be interested in educating the girl and rearing her as their own child. "If the girl is sent into another fam

Drink lots of water and stop eating meat for a while if your Bladder troubles you.
Wnn you wake up witli backache and dull misery in the kidney region it generally moans you have been eating too much meat, says a well-known
authority. Meat forms uric acid which overworks the kidneys in their effort to filter it from the blood and they become sort of paralyzed and loggy. When your kidneys get sluggist and clog you must relieve them, like you relieve your bowels; removing all the body's urinous waste, else you liuve backache, -sick headache, dizzy spells; your stomach sours tongue is coated, and when the weather is bad you have rheumatic twinges. The urine hi cloudy full of sediment, channels often get sore, water scalds and yon are obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night. Klther consult a good, reliable physician at once or get from your pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice,' combined with lit liia. and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to neutralize acids in the urine so it no longer irritates, thus ending bladder weakness. .lad Salts is a life saver for regular meat, eaters. It is inexpensive, cannot Injure, and makes a delightful, effervescent lithia-water drink. (Advertisement.)
