OVER LOCAL TEAM BY SMALL MARGIN Howard County Boys Find Earlham Freshman Hard Bunch to Handle Come to Meet Richmond "Y." kokomo. Ind.. Nov. 27. Surprised
by the fast playing of the team from!
Richmond going under the name or Karlham Freshmen the local "Y" had u hard time nosing out a 31 to 27 victory last night. Because of dirty playing by the "Y" the visiting team had its share of the sympathy and applause of the large crowd. The spectators even hissed Bon Evans of the Detch Specials, for some of the decisions against the Earlham Freshmen. King at forward for the locals caged five baskets, while DeWees, center, was all over the floor and in every play. Hopkins, captain and guard, failed to stop the visitors' forwards. For the Karlham crowd Rowe and Parker made five and four field goals respectively. Spruce, Meeks and Schepman put up a brand of team -work that, was a revelation. The Kokomo "Y" goes to Richmond for two games beginning with the Hoover-Bonds tonight and ending with Ihe Richmond Y. M. C. A. team Saturday night. The Saturday game is expected to be a fierce fight all the way as defeat -will mean elimination from the state championship fight. The score: Kokomo. fi. Foni Q. M'ssd Fouls K!32. GREENVILLE SCORES SECOND EASY WIN OVER INDEPENDENTS
CARLOS PREPARES FOR AUTO GRIND
1
Visitors Pile up Safe Margin
in First Half Locals Fight Gamely in Last Periods. Greenville came out winner in the 6crap yesterday afternoon at the Ath
letic park defeating the Independent
by the score of 26 to 0 in a weird ex
hibition on the part of the locals in
the first half. In the second half, however, the locals held Greenville on
even terms neither scoring a touch
down but Greenville made a field goal
from the twenty yard line.
The Independents entered the fray
with about half of the team that was expected to play on hand and hardly expected to win. Darnell who was counted on to play quarter was out of the game because of an injury sus
tained in last Saturday s Karlham-
Hanover contest. C. Hampton was dragged from the side lines and induced to put on a suit. He played a hangup game at center and after Arntz was knocked out of the game was shifted to full where he shone with equal brilliancy. Fat Medsker went in the sec
ond half and straightway gains shot
though his tackles were few and far
between. Fat had the hardest man on
the Greenville line to handle, Pfeiffer, who was easily the star of the line for the opponents.
Makes Long Gains. The star of the game was Hlatt who
seldom failed to gain, especially in the first half when he would go from eight to twelve yards every time he was given the ball. Besides this he was good
for 2 touch downs made by the visit
ors and the drop kick. Wells was also
good for some consistent gains. Hiatt, Wells and Jay are local boys and will
bo with the locals when they play West
Alexandria there Sunday.
The first quarter was hardly five
minutes old when Greenville recovered an Independent fumble and Hiatt was straightway pushed over the locals goal line for the first touchdown of the
game when he shot around right end
on a squirming run. He kicked goal.
Shortly after this Arntz who has
been playing wonderful ball but who
was badly off form yesterday fumbled
the ball when thrown to him for a punt out back of his goal line and picked it up, Hunt tackling him back of the goal.
The second quarter Jay shot over the goal line for the second touchdown on a fake line buck. Richmond held them firm the remainder of the half. Greenville made the third and last touchdown of the day five minutes after the third quarter had started when Hiatt once more wiggled his way around the end.
With the contest yet six months away, Billy Carlson, shown above, is already lined up for the next Indianapolis sweepstakes race, at the wheel of a Maxwell. A native Californian, he believes in getting ar; early start. Carlson is one of the youths of the racing profession, but, nevertheless, must be figured with the best of them.
RICHMOND REJOICES
IN DOUBLE VICTORY ON CAMPBELL RINK Picked Polo Team Outplays Muncie Five in Revival of Popular Pastime in Indiana Cities.
Amusements
The Richmond Polo team of all-
etars did the expected yesterday when it won two well-played games from the Campbell Specials of Muncie on the Muncie floor, winning the first game by the score of 10 to 4 and the second 7 to 6. The last game went overtime. A large crowd was out to witness the sport. .Lefty Joe played the best game in his career in the first fray being all over the floor, displaying a keen knowledge of the game which with his natural ability easily made him the star. O'Metz showed his superiority over Poland in guarding the cage. To Wayne Fahrner speedy Muncie lusher who is wanted in the East but who has been engaged by the Campbell brothers to manage and play on their team for the season goes the honor of making the first Inter-city score. Fahrner, Fletcher and Edlngton all players of repute were on the Muncie team but they were not good enough for the locals. First game. The second game was an even affair from the first. Red Marine was shifted into the lineup in Oesting's place in the second and third periods, while Williams went out in the third and Oesting was placed at half. The third period ended with the score a tie 6 to G. The feature came in the third period when with but 45 seconds to play Marine scored and Oesting followed suit a few seconds later with what
i looked to be the winning goal but
Wayne Fahrner tied the score. The last three goals were made in just 27 seconds.
Then came the best playing of the
game, the overtime period. After mak
ing several futile attempts to score Bulla finally got hold of the ball and rustled the netting for the winning score in 9:40 seconds. Summary first game: Rushes Quigley 10, Fahrner 5, stops O'Metz 36, Poland 25. Referee Paddy King. Second game: Rushes Quigley 5, Fahrner 3, stops O'Metz 39, Poland 31. Referee Paddy King.
"A Pair of Sixes." One of the reasons for the extraordinary success of "A Pair of Sixes," which H. H. Frazee sends to the Gennett theatre for one performance, on Monday night, November 30, is the fact that the plot furnishes one unending surprise, and as Mark Twain once defined laughter as a spasm induced by a sudden shock or surprise, the inference is plausible that there is considerable laughter at the unusual situations in "A Pair of Sixes." When the comedy was first suggested, there was dissent from the wise ones and some concern as to whether the title would draw full houses. The wisdom of the author has been demonstrated, for never has any comedy been so long successful on Broadway, New York. The never-ending complications resulting from the use of the little pair of sixes causes laughter and merriment unrestrained, and surprises and shocks are so frequent that the average audience finds It difficult to retain its equilibrium. The play is coming to Richmond with most of the cast which appeared at the successful year's run in New York city, and there is small doubt but that their appearance will be greeted by the full house they deserve.

"Fascinating Flora" "Fascinating Flora" a Musical Comedy which plays at the Gennett tomorrow matinee and night is one of the best popular priced attractions that has played in this city. The show possesses more than the average comedy and an abundance of good music. The musical programme does not all run to popular melodies, but is interspersed with medley selections from such operas as "Faust," "II Trovator," and "Lucia," well sung, while the popular numbers are good throughout. The comedy portion of the show is carried by Ben Bernard, a German comedian, who appears in the role of the bogus "Count of BraEil" where the nuts come from, and handles the part lp an excellent manner. As a special feature of the show is the Broadway Four, a quartette of four young men with voices that harmonizes perfectly and a repertoire of good song numbers. As a whole the show is one of the most pleasing song shows, and is thoroughly enjoyable from beginning ti end.
