BULLETIN. TETROGRAD, Nov. 24 German airships have resumed their attacks upon Warsaw, capital of Poland. A dispatch received from Warsaw today says that one of the German machines dropped a bomb in front of the American consulate there on Monday, killing several persons and breaking

all the windows in the Consulate. The dispatch adds that panic has developed among the residents of Warsaw as a result of this attack and that many refugees who have returned to that city after the first German defeat in Poland, are again fleeing from there. GERMANS IN RETREAT. PKTROGRAD, Nov. 24. It is officially announced here that the German forces in Poland are in full retreat southwest of Lowicz along a line extending for forty-three miles from Strykow to the Warthe river and that the Russians are pursuing the beaten enemy. The Germans north of the LSzura river have been unable to cross that stream and it is stated that all indications point to an overwhelming Russian victory along the entire battle front. The official Army Messenger gives

the following review of the military operations in Poland: "The Germans have been given a decisive check between the Vistula and Warthe rivers. Our troops have Btopped the enemy's offensive at practically every point and thrust him. back to positions where he must ma'tain a sharp defensive to escape aiiihilation. "The Germans are retreating from the line running through Strykow (19 miles southwest of Lowicz) Sgierz,

Szadek, Sdunskawola and Wozniki (near the Warthe). Pursue Germans. "Our troops are pursuing the enemy, whose retreat from this front has taken him back for a considerable distance northwest of Lodz. "The Germans north of the Bzura have tried in vain to cross that river to support lueir troops in the Lodz region. These forces have suffered have, losses." The Warsaw correspondent of the Bourse Gazette telegraphed early today that the Russians, by repulsing the Germans southwest of Lowicz, had driven a broad wedge between the German army that advanced southward from Plock and the Austro-Ger-man forces on the Czetochowa front, a strategic blow that would force the enemy to withdraw from both of these regions. According to this correspondent, the Russians have also gained a victory on the Plock-Leczyca front.

WOMAN AT WASHTUB GETS SWOO GIFT Michigan City Woman Falls Heir to Big Estate in New York.

Mrs. Amelia Humbel, aged 86, was doing a washing when a telegram came announcing that a New York court had decided a will case in her favor, and that she had become worth $500,000. She said today she would continue to live here and do her own washing. The estate involved was that of Mrs. Magdelina Herman, sister of Mrs. Humbel's first husband. Mrs. Herman's will left the estate to Mrs. Humbel's sons, George and Edward Herman, of this city. Both of them died. The estate consists of New York real estate.

BRITISH WARSHIPS SHELL ZEEBRUGGE

AMSTERDAM, Nov. 24. British warships bombarded Zeebrugge and the German positions along the Belgian coast all day Monday, acording to a dispatch from Ostburg. It says that a large building near the port of Zee

brugge was set on fire by the bonn bardment. At the beginning of the cannonade German guns answered the warships' Are, but late only the British naval guns were heard, indicating that the German batteries had been silenced.

ERIE SHOPS RESUME BY LEA8ED WIRE. CLEVELAND, O., Nov. 24 One thousand men in Breslau and Ironville, Ohio, idle for months, were preparing today to return to work at the car and

engine repair shops of the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad. This la the result of a letter sent yesterday by Federal judge John H. Clarke of this city to Wm. Duncan, receiver for the railroad ordering the shops to reopen at once.

An innovation has been planned by 'he Sunday school of the Second English Lutheran church for the Christmas celebration this year. Instead of giving the annual treat for the pupils of the school, all the children will be asked to bring donations on the Sunday before Christmas. These donations will be used to aid the poor children of the city.

19 FIREMEN HURT IN GOTHAM FIRES

YEGGMEN BLOW SAFE

BY LEASED WIRE. NEW YORK, Nov. 24. Two fires that started here early today caused injuries to 19 firemen. They are not serious. A gasoline tank exploded, injuring 12 firemen who were fighting a blaze in the New York Central Railroad round-house in the Bronx. The loss was $100,000. A tenement house fire in Forsythe street, Manhattan, drove 200 residents cut into the streets and caused injury to six firemen and Captain John Kelly.

ROGERS VILLE, Ind., Nov. 24 Four yeggmen blew the safe in the postoffice of this city early today, using three blasts of nitroglycerine and wrecking the building. The four men escaped and the sheriff and a posse of deputies are scouring the country in search of them. Although the three explosions were ?o terrific that the building was wrecked the inner doors of the safe did not give way and the robbers failed to secure a large sum of money that was kept there.
