TURKEY ENTERS WAR AS GERMANY'S ALLY

CONFLICT Greece Expected to Jump Into Fray to Prevent Porte From Acquiring Lost Territory. BY LEASED WIRE. ROME, Oct. 30. The Russian embassy announced this afternoon that a state of war existed between Turkey and Russia and that the Russian ambassador had left Constantinople. BY HERBERT TEMPLE, European Manager Representing The International News Service. LONDON", Oct. 30. Turkey has decided for war. News that she had opened hostilities against Russia was taken here today to mean that she was ready to attack England and France as well. Preparations are being made for the departure of the allies representatives from Constantinople, though Kngland has given the Porte one more chance to avoid participation in the great conflict. Acting on orders from the British foreign office, Sir Louis Mallet, the English ambassador at Constantinople has warned the Grand Vizer of Turkey that, if Turkey crosses the Egyptian frontier, she would precipitate a conflict with all the powers of the Triple Entente. Turkey's Action Expected. That Turkey would take part in the war has not been doubted since she refused to send back the crews of the German cruisers Goeben and Rreslau but the extent to which she would wage hostilities was unknown until the Breslau and llainailieh opened lire on the Russian coast cities and the Goeben attacked Russian ships. The result of Turkey's action will be far reaching. If Germany and Austria with whom she has allied herself, are successful, the porte will regain European territory, which she lost in the Balkan war. lr they are defeated, Turkey will he driven from Europe. Greece is also likely to enter the war at once. She will of course oppose her ancient enemy the Turks. Roumania probably will do likewise. 'faria deprived of Roumania, Greece and Servia of the spoils won in the Balkan war, may side with Turkey, but her action cannot be accurately foretold. German Artillery Battery Goes Into Action

A battery of German artillery. This is one of the type of smaller guns of the German artillery division in action along the Aisne battle front. There has been considerable comment by war correspondents regarding the artillery, many agreeing that the fire is frequently bad and the range short.

TEACHERS DISCUSS CHILD'S HOME LIFE

"Casual Questions and Local Schools," was the subject for discussion this afternoon at the Dayton Local Teachers' conference, which is in session at the SL John's Parish school. Questions pertaining to school management will be brought up. Practical and theoretical lessons will be assigned to the teachers for the next institute. Following the reading of a paper on the "Homelike School" by, Prof. William Trapp of Dayton, O., the teachers discussed the methods that may be employed to train the pupil to appreciate the value of home life and surroundings. It was suggested that since there are many influences which lead the child away from the home life, that the school offered great opportunities for counteracting these influences. This afternoon a paper was read by Prof. Wenzel, of Marysville, O., on "Attention." The next session of the institute will be held at Hamilton, Ohio. Suffered Twenty-one Years; Finally Found Relief Having suffered for twenty-one years with a pain in my side, I finally have found relief in Dr. Kilmer's SwampRoot. Injections of morphine were my only relief for short periods of time. I became so sick that I had to undergo a surgical operation in New Orleans, which benefited me for two years. When the same pain came back one day I was so sick that I gave up hopes of living. A friend advised me to try your Swamp-Root and I at once commenced using It. The first bottle did me so much good that I purchased two more bottles. I am now on my second bottle and am feeling like a new woman. I passed a gravel stone as large as a big red bean and several small ones. I have not had the least feeling of pain since taking your Swamp-Root and I feel it my duty to recommend this great medicine to all suffering humanity. Gratefully yours, MRS. JOSEPH CONSTANCE.
