WHITEWATER GIRLS TO LEARNJCOOKING Miss Morgan Takes Charge of Course With New School Equipment. Arrangements have just been completed for teaching cooking in the Whitewater school. The work will be Riven to the girls of the fifth and sixth grades under the supervision of Miss Kate Morgan. The equipment recently installed consists of sixteen gas burners, a range, sinks, and the regular utensil equipment The cooking laboratory will be modern in every respect, and a complete course of study will be given. In all schools of the city, sewing is being taught as the required vocational subject, and cooking will be introduced as rapidly as possible into buildings that have no arrangements for that course. Cooking has been taught in the Flnley school for sever al years. The sixth grade pupils from the Starr and Warner schools come to the high school laboratory once a 1 week for cooking Instruction. i Weuld You Believe It? Two balloon ascensions will be made next Saturday in Eaton by Aeronaut Klefher, who filled an engagement here the latter part of last week. Rain preventnn ascension the first day of tho merchants' fall opening and he was - returned to fill a promise of attractions during the event. Between the courses a program was given, District Superintendent Free land of Richmond, calling the roll of the church board, following with a well put and entertaining talk, in which he said that, "If progression in everything else is acquired by the adoption of new methods, then why not in the church?" In concluding his talk he reported the status of the church to be better than it has been in years. Rev. W. M. Hollopeter, pastor, gave an interesting talk on the general work of the local church. C. H. Carver, superintendent told of the work in the several departments of the Sunday school. John E. Gray, treasurer of the church board, gave a gratifying report, showing the local church to be in better financial condition, than for several years past. Airs. Ij. D. 'Ogborn sang a beautiful solo, Miss Gaynelle Hageman playing an effective accompaniment in the auditorium. Following the banquet a delightful program, arranged by the ladies of the church was given, among the members on which were the Girls quartet from Dublin, composed of the Misses Bernice Tricker, Mary Gilbert, Lucile j Johnson and Doris Floyd, a number of pleasing readings by Mrs. Johnson of Dublin, and members of the male quartet of the local church and composed of M. C. Gaar, Prof. W. J. Bowden, Prof. Kabel and Lemuel Crockett. Miss Gertrude Routh is again able for duty as bookkeeper with the Standard Manufacturing company, after an illness of several days. Miss Mattie McClave went to Greenfield yesterday to spend several weeks with Mrs. John Herbst. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Craig have returned to Richmond after a visit with relatives in this city. Five hundred was played at seven tables, following which a two-course autumn luncheon was served. Upon unfolding each napkin, a fantastic witch-cap was found enclosed, hese the guests donner, while partaking of the refreshments, conspicuous in which were Hoosier pumpkin pie, and bright apple cups filled with confections in the form of grains of corn.
