WEAR CALICO

TO AID SOUTH,

SAYJVOMEN "Back to Calico" Movement Hits Richmond and Club Leaders Favor Trying Innovation.

EVERYBODY TO AID

"Calico Parties" Bring Fabric Into General Favor and Help Use Up Big Cotton Surplus. The "back to calico" movement may be taken up by Richmond club women. Several women who asked that their names be witheld have announced their Intention of Introducing the Idea into their clubs and among their friends and to start the women of Richmond talking. They are waiting for the opinion of others before starting the "back to calico" movement. This movement started in the east where it was suggested by Miss Genevieve Clark, daughter of Champe Clark, speaker of the house. Miss Clark started a cotton party in which the women wore American-made cotton goods. Pretty calicoes became the rage of the day. Women Take Lead. It is said that the "back to calico" movement is a forerunner of the "buy a bale" movement which the men of the northern cities have taken up to relieve the eouth of Its cotton since the market has been curtailed Thus tar, no Richmond men have offered to lead a "buy a bale" movement in this city and it is probable that the women will be in advance in the movement both to relieve the south and to patronize American industry. The endorsement of the state Federation of Women's club to the "back to calico" movement has been made and probably will be sent out to local chapters. Dr. Amelia R. Keller, president of the Woman's Franchise league has approved the idea and will introduce it to her clubwomen. Mrs. Caleb S. Denny of Indianapolis will ask the convention of Daughters of the American Revolution to endorse the movement when the conference is held at Fort Wayne- next week. Await Action. The movement is too new to the Richmond club women for a general sentiment to have been expressed. Women who were asked for their ideas on the movement endorsed it heartily, but refused to make public endorsement until the movement has become a topic of general conversation. "Even without the real purpose of the "back to calico" movement in mind, and for entirely selfish reasons, I would like to see this step become general and permanent," declared one prominent club woman. Another spoke of the opportunity of the women of the nation by wearing calico patterns to their club meetings and to their card parties to advance a really practical movement which men will approve of for several reasons.

Appetite Follows Good Digestion Nearly every one indulges their appetite and the digestive organs are abused, resulting in a congestion of poisonous waste that clogs the bowels and causes much misery and distress. The most effective remedy to correct this condition is the combination of simple laxative herbs with pepsin known as Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin. This 1b a natural pleasant tasting remedy, gentle yet positive in action, and quickly relieves Indigestion, constipation, sick headache, belching, etc. Drug stores sell Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin at fifty cents and one dollar a bottle, and in thousands of homes it is the indispensible family, remedy. For a free trial bottle write Dr. W. B. Caldwell, 451 Washington St., Monticello. 111.
