FOSTER t Easthaven S. A. L. Player Attracts Attention by Fast Fielding and Heavy Hitting During Season. Foster, who has been playing third base on the Easthaven S. A. U team, will be tried out on the Richmond team Sunday afternoon when the lo cals meet Dennison, O., at Athletic park. He has one of the best records of any of the S. A. L. players and is an especially strong batter, having an everage of .uGZ. It was announced today by Manager Kenney that Netter would be out of the game the rest of the season. Kneisley, who substituted at catch for Novack several weeks ago, will be aigned for the rest of the season. He will probably play In the outfield. Foster will be held as utility Sunday. He will not be given a regular place this eeascn, even though he makes good Sui:duy, for he is a student at the Louisville (Ky.) School of Medicine and is a member of the baseball nine there. He will not consent to play regularly with the Richmond team as he is not willing to break his amateur record, -which would keep him out of the collegiate games. Local fans are expecting a good game with Dennison Sunday afternoon. The Ohio team claims the championship of Eastern Ohio and Richmond claims a similar title in Eastern Indiana. The locals have -the advantage over the Dennison bunch because they are acquainted with the Ptuff "Chick" Long puts on the ball. From all indications, the game will be a battle royal between Vordenburg and Long. Long, however, has some Advantages over Vordenburg in that he is acquainted with the batting ability of the Richmond players and knows where the weaknesses lie. This is what the locals fear more than anything else but they are determined to give Long a taste of the medicine he handed out when he was playing with the Richmond team. M. vs. Natco, 2 o'clock. Peck, umpire. At Playgrounds Robinsons vs. the Wayne Works, 4 o'clock. Peck, umpire. At Easthaven Easthaven vs. AdHills, 2 o'clock, Herbert Williams, umpire. At Natco park, McGuires vs. Panhandles; Harry Williams, umpire. The games to be played by the S. A. L. teams Saturday afternoon will have a strong blaring on the final standing. A victory for the A. S. M. with a defeat of the Easthaven team by the Ad-Hill aggregation, will place the Seeders safely in first place with a two-game handicap. The Ad-Hill Easthaven game, however, is the most important of the series. A victory for Easthaven will place them two games ahead of their opponent, while a victory for the Ad-Hills will raise them above the percentage of the hospital men, who are now in second place. The other game that will change the rating of the teams no matter which team is victorious is that between Robinsons and the Wayne Works. Judging from last week's performance of the Robinsons, it Is believed that the Wayne Works will have little trouble in giving them a good drubbing. If the Wayne Works team wins, it will place them above their opponents in the league standing. AGED PEDESTRIAN TRAVELS FAST CHICAGO, Aug. 21. GOLF MATCH FINAL By defeating Dr. R. D. Morrow 2 up and 1 to play on the Country club links yesterday, Wilbur Hibberd, who has been champion of the club for several years, enters the finals, which will be played the first of next week. He will meet the winner of the ElmerDill match, which will be played off this afternoon. The match yesterday, as the score indicates, was a close one and the former champ was given a good run The winner played a steady game, void of any spectacular strokes. The first nine holes he played in 41 and the second in 42. Both of these scores are below bogey but are not as low as he has made during the match. His record for the links this year is 36, which he made in a foursome Wed nesday afternoon, although not playing in a match. The match scheduled for this afternoon between Elmer and Dill promises to be a close one, although the records being made by Elmer have been better than those of Dill's this year. It Is expected that Elmer will win the match and wiy enter the finals with Hibberd. Elmer has been playing exceptionally good golf this year in spite of the fact that he had been out of practice at the beginning of the season. Better scores than have been made on the course in the last few years, have been made during the match plays within the past two weeks. The course has been in excellent condition. a larger number of younger players than ever are taking an interest in the game and some expert players are expected to be developed. According to Director Roach, there seems to be greater interest in the tield meet than in any previous year.
