Young People Attend Social Event Given by Hostess, Mis Parks, v BOSTON, Ind.. July 10. Honoring Ji8B Gladys Chittum. of Clifton Forge. Va.. Miss Leah ParkB very charmingly entertained a few of the young people at her home east of Boston Monday. The features of the evening were games and music, after which a dainty luncheon was served. Those enjoying the affair were: Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Parks, Misses Chittum, Parks, Ruth Druly. Grace Pottenger, Maude and Letha Phillips, Anna Stanley, Alice Greggerson. Mabel Campbell, Hazel Crowell, Ruth Rinehart, Susie Kitchell, Marie Brattaln, Marie, Connell. Anna Mills, of Peru, Ind. Messers Russell Scarce, George Rinehart, Ora Parke, Jerome Merkel, Russel and Walter Stanley, George Husted, Everett Geeting, David Baker, Darrell Swisher and Clair Connell. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kerr motored over from Connersville and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Druley. Miss Gladys Chittum, of Clifton Forge, Va., returned home Tuesday after several weeks wisit with Miss Miss Anna Stanley has as her guest this week, Miss Anna Mills, of Peru, Indiana. Misses Grace and Lucile Ketron left Wednesday evening for Cincinnati, where they will join their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Ketron, who have taken up residence there. Mrs. Marion Stanley delightfully entertained at her home south of Boston with a euchre party in honor of Mrs. M. Desormoux, of Springield, Ohio. Mrs. William Johns, of Eaton, Ohio, and Mrs. J. S. Benner, of New Paris, Ohio. Favors were awarded Mrs. John Deal and Mrs. William Porterfleld. Those present were Mesdames Mait Starr, Lewis Starr, Silas Fitzgibbons, of Siouz City, Iowa, John Deal. John Brittain, Forest Bailey, S. T. Donahay, William Porterfleld and Misses Lucile Porterfleld, Leota Maxine Bailey, Anna Stanley and Anna Mills, of Peru, Indiana. TEDDY JAKES REST Refuses to Discuss Political Situation. OYSTER BAY., N. Y., July 10. Colonel Roosevelt took another day off today following an order from his doctor, and spent the time quietly. "I didn't want to discuss politics," said the former president to the newspaper men. "Don't ask me if I'm going to run for governor. This is my day tor being mysterious." Dr. Alexander Lambert, who accompanied Colonel Roosevelt to Oyster Bay from New York last night, departed today, saying that his patient was getting along very well. The colonel went for a long walk ji the woods, accompanied by Mrs. ftoosevelt and his son, Archie. Afterward he dictated a number of letters. GREEIISFORK CORN SUFFERS FROM RAIN
GREENSFORK, Ind., July 10. Roy Horton is making a survey of the town of Greensfork to establish several property lines, the street grade lines and to enable the town to improve its drainage system. Additional street and sidewalk improvements will be made soon. The farmers who have threshed in this community report an average yield of 22 bushels to the acre, and a test of 63. Dr. J. D. Kerr, who began his business rooms with a flat above in July, 1912, will have it completed soon. The First National bank declared its regular 3 per cent semi-annual dividend and placed $1,000 in the surplus account at the meeting of its board of directors last Tuesday. Corn in this community is suffering; for rain more than in any of the surrounding country, as nearly all of the rains have gone round for several weeks, except a little surface sprinkle.
