Many Richmond women believe their recipe for baking devil's food cake is the best. Since the announcement of the $5 prize to be awarded for the best recipe by the Palladium last week, contributions have been pouring into the office of the Household Economics editor. The contest will be open one week longer. Recipes to compete for the prize should be mailed to the Palladium office, for the Household Economics editor, not later than midnight of July 9th. Next week the judges for the contest will be announced. Competent and fair judges will be named, who will go over the contributions carefully and select the winner, judging from proportions and ingredients called for, whether the cake will turn out to be a success. The judges will be selected and their names announced later. The winning recipe and some of the best will be published later, so more Richmond women may learn to make the delicacy. To get $5 for telling someone else how to do something which is a matter of habit is an opportunity that does not come very often. All that is necessary to bear in mind is devil's food cake, Palladium, and three weeks' contest.
