CAMBRIDGE CITY ' FOLKSjO ABROAD Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wood, Ben Toms and Daughter Plan Trip. CAMBRIDGE CITY. Ind., May 22. Mrs. Charles Sites has returned to Fort Wayne, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Susie Guyton, who -will spend seveial weeks in that city. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Lester spent Thursday in Connersville, on account of illness of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Milton Lester. Miss Eva Toms represented the Helen Hunt club, as delegate at the Sixth District Convention of Federated clubs, in session in Richmond yesterday (Thursday) and today. Among the members in attendance are Mrs. R A. Hicks, Miss Catherine Calloway, Mrs. May Boden, Mrs. Willard Petro, and others. Mrs. H. B. Boyd has returned after a few days spent with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Hobbs, of Plainfield. Miss Judkins spent Thursday in Indianapolis attending the Indiana Funeral Directors association. The third degree .was conferred upon Will Austin, at the meeting of the Masonic lodge Wednesday evening. Ross Tyler has purchased the vacant lot adjoining the Noah Myers property on the east, and the work of erecting a two-story frame house is in progress. Otis Hormel, after three week spent Jn Cambridge City, assisting in the care of his brother, George Hormel, has returned to his home in Kokomo. Entertain Ladies Club. Mrs. Charles Wheeler and Mrs. F. J. Harvey were hostesses Thursday afternoon at the home of the former, for a meeting of the Young Married Ladies' Card club. The game was played at several tables with Mrs. R. V. Leslie, Mrs. B. L. Stratan, and Mrs. J. R. Littell, were guests. Choice refreshments were served at the close of the game. John E. Gray will go to Elkhart the coming week to attend commencement. His granddaughter. Miss Margaret St.ah r, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stahr. is a member of the graduating class. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Smith, Mrs. Ray Bertsch and Mrs. Edna Swiggett arrived home Wednesday evening, after ome time spent in Asheville, N. C. Mrs. Alice Guyton, of Richmond, was in Cambridge City, Thursday jnorning on her way to Milton to visit relatives. Orchard Demonstration. A Purdue orchard demonstration was made Wednesday on a farm owned by W. B. Wilson, of this city, two miles northwest of New Lisbon. The demonstration consistent of pruning, spraying, care of trees", and how to make such treatment profitable. The Henry county agent, Richards, had the work in charge, with the Purdue expert, Mr. Durham, as demonstrator. The attendance was good and a strong degree of interest was manifested. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wood, Ben Toms and daughter, Elsie, and Mrs. Fawnie Smith will go to Boston the first of June, from which port they will embark for England on the steamship Corona, June 16. Mr. and Mrs. Wood will return the last of October, Mr. Toms and daughter remaining for a longer time. Mrs. Smith will not return to American, but will remain in her native land. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Storch will reside In the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wood, during their absence. Mrs. Frank McDaniels, of this city, Mrs. Kate Reisor, and Mrs. A. E. Ehle, of Germantown, spent Thursday in Richmond. Room No. 5 in the Cambridge City schools was dismissed yesterday and today on account of the illness of the teacher, Miss Miriam Parkins.
