MEAT INSPECTION VIOLATORS FINED Railroad in Indiana Receives Penalty for Violating Twen ty-Eight Hour Law.
Mexico Naval Cadets9 Story of Taking Vera Cruz by United States
Like the cadets of Chapultepec in the first Mexican War, the youths of
j the little Naval Academy in Vera Cruz fought bravely against the ad
vance of the American marines and sailors. Many of the American officers expressed the same pity for these heroic boys, as did Ulysses S. Grant and other men who served the campaign of 1847. Here is the story of the battle of Vera Cruz in the words of a Naval

'Children, long live Mexico!'
'We all understood that the hour
when we must defend our country had arrived. Our officers gave orders and we hurried to carry them out. We went to the armory, served ourselves with fifty ball cartridges apiece,, and marched in safety to the dormitories. "The mattresses served as breast-
bullets cutting the air was heard, and Uribe fell heavily without uttering a syllable. The ball had buried itself in his skull. An officer tenderly raised the body of the lad. Several youths bent over their comrade until he expired, a few moments later, and then returned to the combat against the invader. "Pupil Bduardo Colin was on sentry duty. Suddenly there fell at bis feet a
trembling of his hands that danger was near. "And he continued in that spot of death until he received orders to retire." When commanded to leave, the cadet corps moved off In good order, covering the retreat of a battery. They were enthusiastically received in

Sixteen in all, we tried to check the disembarkation of the invaders, who with field artillery, were attempting to land on the Sanidad pier. By good markmanship we caused the invaders to break then the sailors formed their ranks again. "It was at one side of Uribe and Rosas at the other. Flattering reports have been received at the home offices in Chicago of the American Film Manufacturing Company as to the general merit of the coming "Flying A" Mutual Movie two rpl motion nicture. "The Last
Supper." The official report received '
from the national board of censorship is highly flattering. It is said that much good will come from this and kindred pictures of a high moral tone which will be seen soon among the "Flying A" Mutual Movies.

pany. is back in Chicago after a two months' visit at the California studios. He reports the height of prosperity at Santa Barbara. He will not be long in Chicago, however, as he intends to go again soon to the coast to supervise the big Mutual Movies, which will be coming on all through the spring and summer. "The Escape," one of the recent notable big productions of the Reliance Mutual Mo.vies, has been revised, lengthened and rephotographed in part at the new western studios. This his involved some changes in the cast. F. A. Turner plays the part of the father very successfully, and Ralph Lewis is admirable as the senator.

I Why French Women j Have Few Wrinkles j American women marvel at the velvety skins of their Parisian sisters aud rathf-r chide tho fate which treats the European so graciously when, in reality, it is neither chance nor nature which makes the difference. It is only the difference of care and the use of proper treatment wV.ich makes the beautiful skin from the wrinkled, unpleasant one. The heavy massage is ont' of the American institutions which makes the flesh and skin flabby, which the use of a simple vegetable jelly cream takes little time and both cures wrinkles and protects against them. to the wrinkled surface. At the very irst application you will feel a slight drawiug and note the fact that the blood is more active in the region whichis covered. This means stimulation of the face muscles and a greater supply of flesh-building material brought to the surface at the place it is most needed which will demonstrate its power to smooth the skin and stimulate it so that the surface becomes perfectly healthy. Mexican Rebels Operating Machine Guns At the Murray today and tomorrow will be offered for the first time in Richmond moving pictures of the war in Mexico, which were recently taken by Dr. Chas. A. Pryor, a press reporter and moving picture expert. The four reels incorporated in the picture were taken during all battles on both sides and show the battles of Juarez, Messa, Tierra Blanco, Ojinaga. At one time during the taking of the pictures Dr. Pryor was arrested and placed in prison, sentenced to be shot and eventually released by Gen. Castro. These pictures were just finished and brought into El Paso, where the rights for their presentation at the Murray were bought by Mr. Murray. Vaudeville Will Follow These Pictures on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Why Not Buy the
The cozy and homelike appearance found in homes is due to the "choicy" selections made, rather than how cheap it can be bought for. To enable people to have this kind of a home we have always endeavored to carry in stock the right kind of furniture. Quality has always come first at our store and this combined with our being willing to accept a fair profit has earned fairly for us the title of "Furniture of Quality" We are now showing some splendid Dining Room Suits in Early English, Mahogany, Golden Oak and Fumed Oak, priced at $60.00 to $175.00.
