TOE RICHMOND PALLADIUM AND SUN-TELEGRAM, WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 1914

In a chapel talk this morning at Earlham college, Mrs. Lydia Dowall, a missionary from China, urged as many students as possible to prepare themselves for the mission field. Mrs. Dowall is stationed at Shanghai, but is in this country on a temporary leave of absence. She has been attending the sessions of the Ninth Triennial Conference of the Woman's Missionary Union of Friends, which has been in session at Muncie. "There are four religious prevalent among the people of China but in rigid practice all but the Christian religion fail.. Even the doctrine of Confucious falls short in its conception of right, ' said Mrs. Dowall. Mrs. Dowall made an inspection of the college, especially the Biblical department, before returning to the west, from whence she will return to the station in Shanghai.

Halton Powell's "Dollars and Dimples' Halton Powell's production of the laughing carnival, ' Dollars and Dimples." will make its initial bid for local favor at the Murray theater tomorrow afternoon. The engagement is for three nights and the usual matinees. The most blaze theatre-goer is assured of finding pleasure in the clever work of Eileen Rosar, known far and wide as "The Ginger Girl." In "Dollars and Dimples" she is given every opportunity to display her ability as a comedienne, singer and dancer. There is something doing every moment this talented young woman is on the stage and as she is in evidence practically all the time the action of the piece does not lag. In spite of Miss Rosar's ability to hold up the show, even with a mediocre cast, Mr. Powell has engaged a company of unusual talent to surround her. Among the many clever and well known farcurs are Mr. Pacie Ripple, o o o o o o o o 8 o o o o o o

' until recently one of the principal art ists with "The Merry Countiss;" Mr. Bert Young, one of the best known tenors in musical comedy, and the invincible Rosar family of expert instru mentalists. In all "Dollars and Dim ples" is one of the most pretentious offerings Mr. Powell has yet offered the public. The chorus of charming .young ladies is up to the standard on looks and ability while the costuming outclasses any similar attraction playing at the same scale of prices. Adv.
