Mr. Lovell Cooney left this -week tor Kansas where he has accepted a position In a creamery, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farwig and son of Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Darnelle and daughter Fay, of this place, spent Sunday with Mr. and .-Mrs. Lafayette Jasckson and family. The "Ladies Auxiliary" of the Farmers' Institute met Wednesday in the basement of the M. E. church. An interesting and instructive program was carried out. Miss Bartholomew gaye a reading on Spring. Mrs. Thomas Eliason read a paper on the preserving of cherries and strawberries. Miss McNeil of Purdue University gave an Interesting talk on "The Balanced Meal." Following this Miss Jones and Miss Ford of Earlham College gave a demonstration of the ways to make strawberry short cake. There were twenty members present. Mrs. A. J. Lashley and daughter Elizabeth, spent Wednesday with D. V. Lashley and family, in Boston. Mr. and Mrs. . Locke of Richmond have been visiting Mrs. Locke's moth- ' - Mrs. Delia Culbertson, for several days. Mrs. Dr. Vinton and children of Muncie are visiting Mr. John Nixon and family thJ? week. Mrs. Oliver Myers and children of Richmond spent part of the week with her father, Mr: Taylor McConaha. Mr. Charles Jackson, who has been so seriously ill for several days is improving and hopes are entertained for his recovery. The Socialists of Wayne County will meet in convention on Sunday afternoon, May 9th for the purpose of nominating a county ticket. Miss Ruth Baldwin entertained the following young ladies from the Ohio Western College, at the home of Andrew Dunbar, the first of the week. Misses Louise Manning, Elizabeth Rutherford, Leah Denerline. The following from here were entertained over Sunday: Misses Letha Dunbar, Pearl Hoerner, Norine Means.
