Lester, each of? whom recently celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, with a sterling silver spoon, not alone as an anniversary gift, but for their sterling qualities as members of the organization. Miss Mattie McClave made the presentation speech. Douglas Isham, the four-year-old grandson of Edward Isham, had hla light arm broken when he fell from a wagon, Sunday evening. Frank Sudbrock, of Indianapolis, transacted business in this city Monday. Mrs. Herman Barnett was completely taken by surprise Monday evening, when just as she and Mr. Barnett were leaving their home in Boden flats, a number of her former neighbors arrived at their door. With the mthey brought a tempting supper as they had learned that it was her birthday. This was soon spread upon the table, which was prettily arranged with a center piece of twentyone carnatinons, the gift from Mrs. Roy Capeland and Mrs. Frank McDaniels. Mr. Barnett presented his wife with a vacuum cleaner. In the company were Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDaniels, Mrs. Roy Copeland, Miss Virginia Barnett, James Barnett and daughter, Miss Ruth. The members of the W. R. C, No. 151, have signified their willingness to render service. In any way pertaining to their work, if such be needed, during the conflict between this country and Mexico, as it did in the days of the Civil war. A number of invitations have been received in this city to attend a dancing party to be given in Milton, the evening of May first. Flag day, Friday, June 12, will be observed by the W. R. C. with a jubilee meeting which will be in charge of Mrs. Nellie Compton, patriotic instructor of the local corps. The program will be announced later. Mrs. Gaar Beard returned Monday evening after several days spent with relatives in Indianapolis. S. B. Fisher will sell his household roods at public sale Saturday, May 9. The department convention of the W. R. C. will be held in the First Baptist church, of Indianapolis, May 8, 7 and 8.

He was run over ana fatally hurt by an automobile a week ago and pneumonia developed last Friday and death relieved him of suffering at 4:30 Saturday morning. The funeral was held Monday at 10:30 o'clock, at Muncie. Perry township Sunday school convention was held In the U. B. church Snnday afternoon. Much interest was manifested by those present. J. C. Haxton, Deek Haxton, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamb were at Muncie the latter part of last week. Mrs. Emma Neff, of Greensfork, attended the commencement at Van Buren Saturday night. Her son, Prof. Shannon Neff, is one of the teachers. This is his second year there. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Kimball and baby arrived from Colorado Sunday morning where they have resided the past several years. MILTON, Ind., April 29. The township schools will close Friday afternoon. The following is the high Echool calendar, for the coming week: Sunday evening, May 3, the baccalau reate sermon at the M. E. church, delivered by the Rev. F. M. Westhafer. Monday, May 4, will be the high school picnic at Beeson's station. On Tuesday evening. May 5, the Junior's reception at the home of Miss Irene Crook, In honor of the Seniors. Wednesday afternoon, May 6, Class Day at the high school room. Thursday, May 7, commencement at the Farmers bank hall. Friday evening, May 8, the Alumni meet and banquet. The Rev. Charles Whitman, of Liberty, will deliver the class address on Thursday evening. The Hurst's theatre orchestra will furnish the music. A very pretty dancing party will be given at the Farmers bank hall on Friday evening. Mrs. O. H. Beeson has a very fine petunia. It has already had forty-two blossoms and buds putting forth every day. The flowers are double. Mr. and Mrs. James Doddridge entertained a company of friends at dinner Sunday. The quarantine has been lifted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Doty, for scarlet fever.
