BOARD CONSIDERS FOUR MATERIALS FOR NORTH "TENTH . .. ''.. ... , . .. , ' ' ' v Property Owners Argue Over Kind of Paving in Improvement of Two Blocks1 From F to H Streets.
street From Klnsey to Chestnut; -if as refused by. the board because the improvement resolution had- been, defeated by the board in" February," folio wing Hhe filing of a ? remonstrance. This improvement cannot be made unless, the board orders the introduction of a new petition. , Frank. Roberts presented a petition to the board of -works asking that it call for a general -observance of cleaning week in Richmond the , week of May-1. - This action will .be taken by the board- not later than Wednesday.
Arguments for and against the paving of two blocks on North 1 Tenth street, from F street to H street, so that the street will be uniform from the railroad to the Reid hospital, were presented before the board of works Monday. Two women and one man urged that the macadam on the two blocks was one of the best made in the city and there would be no complaint against it if kept m proper repair. Another woman urged . that if ' the street had to be permanently improved, that the paving be of concrete because it was cheaper. One property owner, a man," informed the board that the two squares should be permanently improved and that the paving be of brick. Following the discussion the board ordered the advertising for bids for four kinds of paving. Unless the resolution is defeated by remonstrance the board will order a brick paving. There is a possibility, however, that the majority of the resident property owners, in the event of a successful remonstrance is not made, will petition for a concrete street in which event such a paving would have to be ordered by the board. Two or three of the resident property owners who spoke against the proposed permanent improvement, asserted that it would only benefit physicians who used the street as a route to the hospital. "If we had as much money as the doctors we would have gilt fence posts," complained one old man. Favora Brick Paving. The riroDerty owner who favored
brick paving said the street should be uniform. He said it was heavily traveled at the present time and that travel would increase as soon as the concreting of North J street and the New Paris pike, the so-called Morton park boulevard, had been completed. A remonstrance was filed against the cementing of the alley between North Tenth and Eleventh street, from A to B, but "the board gave the one petitioning resident property owner the authority to cement that part of the alley in the rear of her residence. A petition was presented for the improvement of Richmond avenue from West Fifth street to West Eighth ! street, with cement curbs, gutters, 1 roadwav. No ac-
tlon was taken on it. " The board ordered the vacation of North Eleventh street from F street to G street, a part of the street which has never been opened, for the bene1 fit of the Mather Brothers Coal company. The company will pay benefits , to the city for the vacation. To Erect Lights. The Wayne Aerie of Eagles was granted the authority to place cluster lights on South Seventh street from Main street to South A street, on the west side of the street. The new club ' house of the aerie is being constructed on that street. TJie light posts will be of stone and all the wiring will be placed underground. A petition for the location of a fire alarm box on North Fifth and D ; streets was presented and referred to the fire chief. A request of council for the preparation of an ordinance providing for cement walks on North West Fourth

GERMAN PLAYLET PLEASES STUDENTS
"Puppenspeil", the play presented by the German department of Earlham college, Saturday night, was one of the most unique and most interesting playlets ever given by the school. Professor Fiese, of Wisconsin University, manipulated the puppets and was assited by members of the German faculty of the school. The play deals with a subject of literary interest. Dr. Faust, who lived in the sixteenth century, was considered a great musician. - Many stories centered about him. The gist of the play is that Faust, dissatisfied with ordinary learning, studied magic and sells his soul to the devil. The devil serves him and then receives his soul as a reward.
Have Courage. If there is one thing more than another that will cause discouragement it is indigestion, but you should bear in mind that hundreds have been cured, permanently cured, and at very small expense. Mrs. E. Foster, Lima, Ohio, writes: "I was troubled for a year or more with indigestion. Chamberlain's Tablets afforded the first real relief I obtained, and by taking two bottles of them my whole system was put into a healthy condition." For sale by all dealers. (Advertisement)

Everyone is Expected to Make the DOLLAR Price TOMORROW ! Well that's easier for some than others according to their line. For ini-v.c: the -5 and 10 cent stores will have no trouble in making the DOLLAR PRICE if the people want to pay it rbut it's a little different proposition with shoe stores. It s VERY DIFFERENT with FELTMAN'S SHOE STORE. We carry Only High . Grade Shoes and it requires some nerve to put the Dollar Price on Feltman's Shoes but we always adjust ourselves to conditions and have never failed to meet the expectations of the people of Richmond. We are congratulating ourselves that we are merely shoe merchants and not" real-estate dealer and therefore not expected to sell houses and lots at a Collar apiece. We are going to show our gratitude for escaping that requirement by placing on sale tomorrow morning
