CHURCH WELCOMES ITS IJEWMEMBERS First Baptist Officials Hold Reception for Seventy-five Persons.
By speakers of the different departments of the First Baptist church, , the seventy-five new members were acquainted with the church work at the reception given in their honr last evening. In addition to the seventyfive new members more than half a
hundred members of the congregation were in attendance. J. W. Ferguson, superintendent of the Snnday school, spoke in behalf of that department to the new members, saying: "The Sunday school is one of the largest divisions of the church. It is the training camp for the young people and a place of education for the elders. I would like to see all of you members that can be present at next Sunday's service. We have large Bible study classes which will appeal to you, and we need your help." The deacons and officials of the church were represented by Frank Unthanfc, who welcomed the members to worship. "Now that you have affiliated yourself with our church, it is our responsibility to put you at work on some specific task," he said. "In speaking for the board and myself, am personally glad to greet you tonight and extend the hand of fellowship." Dr. VV. W. Zimmerman, who with Alexander Cobb, was to respond to the welcoming, was unable to be present After a few. words by Mrs. E. G. The Rev. W. O. Stovall, pastor, closed the reception with a few words, urging the new members to get in line and help boost the church work.
