The evening was delightfully spent in contests and games and music. A pretty luncheon was served, the St. Patrick scheme being followed as closely as possible. The Ruth's Circle of the Christian church Bible -school entertained at the home of Mrs. E. P. Jones, Tuesday evening. The occasion was "Gentlemen's Night" and the guests were composed of the husbands of the Circle and friends. The house was prettily decorated in the symbols of St. Patrick's Day in the Morning and were pretty "n the dining room where the chandelier above the table was wreathed in green and festoned in graceful lines to each corner of the table. The table was lighted with candles under white. The evening was delightfully spent in music and games including two very amusing contests. One of these was forming a pig from white chewing gum. O. H. Beeson was made judge and a remarkable thing was that Mr. Beeson passed upon his own "pig" and declared it to be the best representation of a pig. The other contest was the choosing of partners in a, rather horrifying manner. It was the matching of snakes. These snakes were hidden around in almost every conceivable nook and the company -had to find mates to find their partner at supper. A fine luncheon was served when all had found their partners. Thre were thirty-sis, including the circle and their guests, present.

CHILDREN HATE OIL, CALOMEL AND PILLS "California Syrup of Figs, Best for Tender Stomach, Liver, Bowels.

HOW TO TREAT CROUP EXTERNALLY

Rub Vick's "Vap-O-Rub" Croup and pneumonia Salve well over the throat

I and chest for a feW minutes and then ! cover with a warm flannel cloth. Leave

the covering lc se around the neck so that the vapors inhaled may loosen the choking phlegm and open the air passages. Usually one treatment relieves in fifteen minutes. One application at bedtime will prevent a night

Look back at your childhood days. Remember the "dose" mother insisted on caetor oil, calomel, cathartics. How you hated them, how you fought against taking them. With our children it's different. Mothers who cling to the old form of physic simply tjon't realize what they do. The children's revolt is wellfounded. Their tender little "insides" are injured by them. If your child's stomach, liver and bowels need cleansing, give only delicious "California Syrup of Figs." Its action is positive, but gentle. Mil-

! lions of mothers keep this harmless ! "fruit laxative" handy; they know

children love to take it; that it never fails to clean the liver and bowels and sweeten the stomach, and that a teaspoonful given today saves a sick child tomorrow. Ask your druggist for a 50-eent bottle of "California Syrup of Figs," which has full direction for babies, children of all ages and for grownups plainly on each bottle. Beware of counterfeits sold here. See that it is made by "California Fig Syrup Company." Refuse any other kind with contempt. Adv. .

It's Grandmother's Recipe to Keep Her Locks Dark Glossy Thick. The old-time mixture of Sage Tea and Sulphur fdr darkening gray, streaked and faded hair is grandmother's treatment, and folks are again using it to keep their hair a good, even color, which is quite sensible, as we are living in an age when a youthful appearance is of the greatest advantage. , Nowadays, though, we don't have the troublesome task of gathering the sage and the mussy mixing at home. All drug stores sell the ready-to-use product called "Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Hair Remedy" for about 50 cents a bottle. It is very popular because nobody can discover it has been applied. Simply moisten your comb or a soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one small strand at a time; by morning the gray hair disappears, but what delights the ladies with Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur is that, besides beautifully darkening the hair after a few applications, it also produces that soft lustre and appearance of abundance which is so attractive; besides, prevents dandruff, itching scalp and falling hair.

Such result would mean disaster to many of the memns it. would romnel their sacrififiny nronertv and

iiiuviug liicii ianiiiicn iu uinci Linen. On the other hand, it would not mean the stopping of the sale of intoxicating liquors in Richmond. It would simply take that sale out of our hands, despite the proved fact that we are law-abiding, of good moral character and do not sell to minors, and put the sale in the hands of a lot of lawless and disreputable men who would be under no restrictions or regulation. We appeal to the laboring men that this would be unjust, unfair and intemperate. If one portion of -X community can legislate certain laboring men out of a job and certain Unions out of existence, where is the agitation going to stop ? What class of laboring men may come next ? The members of. the local Bartenders Union ask all Union labor to vote "No" in the interest of sobriety, prosperity and industry. ED. C. MILLER, Pres. JOHN J. DAUDT, Fin. Serv.
