Dayton, 36; Y. M. C. A.f 23. The Y. M. C. A. basketball machine, with a record of eighteen consecutive games won, met this season's first defeat -when the Dayton Gym club, Saturday night, before a crowd of 500 fans at the association gym, took the contest, 36 to 23. One hundred Dayton rooters accompanied the team. Nervousness, over-eagerness and poor luck on the part of the locals,
EAT LESS AND TAKE SALTS FOR KIDNEYS
Take a Glass of Salts Before Breakfast if Your Back Hurts or Bladder Bothers You. The American men and women must guard constantly against Kidney trouble, because we eat too much and all our food is rich. Our blood is filled with uric acid which the kidneys strive to filter out, they weaken from overwork, become sluggish; the eliminative tissues clog and the result is kidney trouble, bladder weakness and a general decline in health. When your kidneys fell like lumps of lead ; your back hurts or the urine Js cloudy, full of sediment or you are obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night; if you suffer with sick headache or dizzy, nervous spells, acid stomach, or you have rheuTnatism when the weather is bad, get from your pharmacist about four ounces cf .lad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia and has been used for generations to flush s.nd stimulate clogged kidneys; to neutralize the acids in the urine so it no longer is a source of irritation, thus ending bladder disorders. Jad Salts is inexpensive; cannot injure, makes a delightful effervescent lithla-water beverage, and belongs in every home, because nobobdy can make a mistake by having a good kidney flushing any time.
combined -with splendid team work an dbasket shooting ability of the visitors, explains the "Y" defeat. That Richmond was suffering from an attack of "nerves" was evident by many poor shots and frequent fumbling. In their over-eagerness to score the "Y" five made many wild shots. Although the "Y" team was plainly off form, no credit can be detracted from the Dayton victory, as that team is by far the fastest ever met by the association five. The Dayton team has worked together for seven years and is conceded one of the fastest in the country. Dayton Scores First. Dayton opened up with a rush. Greggar, forward, caged the ball from beneath the goal after only 40 seconds or play. This lead was not held long, as Parker of the locals, dropped a field a minute later. Lanning repeated, giving the locals a lead which was held the greater part of the first half. In the closing minutes of the initial session the Dayton crowd rallied. Baskets by Decker, Greggar and Weaver overcame the local lead. Taking advantage of the "Y'b" slump the visitors ran up a big score by some sensational team formations, that had the association team guessing. The half ended, Dayton, 22; Richmond. 12. The visitors continued their pace during the second stanza, although at times the "Y" men threatened to tie the count. Dayton scored 14 points this half, while the locals added 11 markers. The close guarding of the Gem City bunch was the big cause of the Richmond's five inability to connect with the basket in this period. Every man of the Buckeye aggregation played well, although Greggar was the individual point maker of the game. Greggar scored a total of 14 points for his team, while the work of the remaining members of the remaining members of the winning quintet, added their mite to the swamping of the "Y" boat. Lanning led the scoring of the "Y" bunch with 8 points. Duning and Parker registered 6 markers apiece, while Jones trapped one field. Brunton. who was taken out of the game in

PHI DELPS TEAM LOSES FAST GAME Fraternity Men, in First Game, Put Up Good Article of Basketball.
Earlham Independents, 21; Phi Delts, 17. In a slambang affair, the Earlham Independents trimmed "Abe" Rowe's Phi Delt warriors by a 21-17 count in the preliminary to the Dayton-Y. M. C. A. game, Saturday night, at the association gym. The game was fairly fast and interesting throughout. The Earlham five won the contest through their superior basket shooting ability, as the Phi Delt crowd had possession of the sphere far more than did the former. Rowe and Kemper were way off form in their shooting, missing shot after shot. The Earlham team had the advantage in having practiced together all season. Although . Fitzgibbons, Schepman and Rowe did the best work for the Phi Delt combination, George Hodge, forward, and Smithmeyer, guard, put up good games. Schepman opened the " scoring by romping down the floor and trapping the ball from a mid field shot. "Irish" Fitzgibbons added another point on a free throw marker. Trueblood, of the Quakers, registered at the next scrimmage. The second stanza was tight. Both sides had many chances to win the game this period, the score reversing several times. Earlham obtained the lead in the first minute's play and held it until the middle of the half, when Fitzgibbons tied the count at the 1 "point stage with a pair of classy drives from the center of the floor. Briggs, a stocky member of the Quaker squad, entered the battle at this point and sewed up things by trapping the leather a couple of times. "Irish" Fitzgibbons was the big illumination of the game, with a pair of baskets and a good guarding game to his credit. Rowe was off form but added a trio of fields to the cause.
Kemper caged two field. Joe Roberts was easily the star of the Earlham team. This was the first game played by the . team representing the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. It is likely that two or three games will be played in the next few weeks. Dunbar, star forward of the Centerville high school team, will be seen with the Phi Delt squad in the next game. Action for Libel and Damages
The following questions, inserted as paid advertising, appeared in both the Evening Item and the Palladium, Friday, March 13, over the signature of "The Citizens' Committee": "Rut just for argument's sake, will Mr. Gordon stake the case for his clients on the assumption and the assertion he is constantly making. THAT FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS THE SALOONS OF RICHMOND HAVE BEEN LAW-ABIDING, OR AS NEARLY SO AS SALOONS CAN BE MADE TO BE? IF IT CAN BE SHOWN THAT, IN SPITE OF PROMISES MADE FIVE YEARS AGO, THE SALOON KEEPERS HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW, BOTH IN LETTER AND IN SPIRIT, WILL MR. GORDON PLEAD GUILTY FOR HIS CLIENTS AND LET THE PEOPLE PASS SENTENCE? WILL HE STAKE HIS CASE ON THE ENTIRE ABSENCE FROM RICHMOND'S SALOONS OF WINE-ROOMS, HOUSES OF ASSIGNATION, SELLING AT ILLEGAL HOURS, FALSE RETURNS AS TO TAXES, AND EVASION OF THE LAW AS TO BREWERY OWNED SALOONS? If he is willing to take this position, we stand ready with a second installment of facts and affidavits." My answer both for my clients and myself to this challenge is its acceptance. We not only agree to this proposition, but we demand a show down of facts by some responsible party or parties, of "The Citizens' Committee." We are not calling any "Bluff." We are calling for the exhibition of the proof they say they have, we are calling for it in good faith and under all legal exactions. First, there must be some legally responsible local party or parties of "The Citizens' Committee to assume the liability of such accusations as they claim they are in position to make. There must be no hiding behind the anonymous "Citizens' Committee." Let the man or men who dare put their names to any affidavit or newspaper statement charging specifically, the saloon proprietor or proprietors who are guilty of the offenses and violations which
are enumerated in the above advertisement, now come forward. It is their challenge. We accept it and stake our case upon it. We demand that some legally responsible local person or persons of the "Citizens' Committee" put his name to any specific charges they may make for three reasons: First, because whoever is conducting this "dry" campaign has imported detectives into Richmond in the past month both male and female detectives. We are familiar with the tactics of AntiSaloon League detectives. Some of them are now under indictment in this state for perjury, because they have brought false charges against saloon dealers in order to create popular prejudice for the moment in order to win a fight. These imported detectives would n6t hesitate to do the same thing here on the eve of election to win this fight. Therefore, we demand that if "The Citizens' Committee" has any specific charges they do not hide behind some imported talent or irresponsible local parties. Second: BECAUSE THE MOMENT ANY SUCH SPECIFIC CHARGES ARE MADE WE ARE GOING TO INSIST THAT THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY TAKE IMMEDIATE COGNIZANCE OF THEM AND USE THEM FOR A BASIS OF ACTION, and we insist that he be not embarrassed in the performance of his duties by having the affiants some unresponsible or imported parties who after they have loaned their names to create a temporary scandal, skulk out of town and fail to appear as prosecuting witnesses. THIRD: BECAUSE IF SUCH SPECIFIC CHARGES ARE MADE AND THEY FAIL OF PROOF IT IS THE PURPOSE OF ANY AND ALL OF MY CLIENTS WHO MAY BE THUS DAMAGED TO INSTITUTE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL ACTION AGAINST THE AFFIANTS AND ALSO AGAINST ANY PUBLICATION WHICH MAY PUBLISH SUCH LIBELOUS MATTER. Now then, members of "The Citizens' Committee", bring your proof. Re specific. Don't beat around the bush. Don't be afraid i.See Other Ad on Page 2J
to back up your own proposition. Don't be too cowardly to sign your names. 1. Name the saloon proprietors who are conducting wine rooms in violation of the law. 2. Name the saloon proprietors who are conducting or connected with any assignation house. 3. Name the saloon proprietors who are guilty of selling at illegal hours. 4. Name the brewery that owns a saloon in Richmond and name the saloon and its proprietor. 5. Name the saloon proprietor or proprietors who are evading their taxes, if you want to. But if you do we will name TWO members of your "Citizens' Committee" and other "dry" leaders of the city who are evading their taxes and who have evaded their taxes TO EVERY ONE saloon proprietor you name. It will not be hard for us to show that EVADING TAXES IS A SIN that is NOT PECULIAR TO THE SALOON TRAFFIC if you care to open up that issue. If it is going to be an issue of personal integrity, honesty in paying debts and legal obligations that you want to raise, the saloon proprietors of Richmond will gladly meet you on that issue. My clients and I all are willing to eliminate all further argument, and stake our case in this fight upon our ability to prove that the saloons of Richmond for the last five years "have been lawabiding or as nearly so as saloons can be made to be," "both in letter and spirit." My clients and I all are willing to plead guilty and let the public pass sentence if legally responsible local people of "The Citizens Committee" will place their names to any specific charges against any specific saloon proprietors charging them with 'any of the crimes they enumerated and such charges can be proved.
