SEVERAL HORSES DIE During Winter Washington Township Loses Many. MILTON, March 2. A number of farmers are losing their horses In this vicinity. The fertiliser wagon passed through Milton Friday with one and on Saturday with another. It is said that several have covered animals over in the enow to await the coming of the wagon. Miss Lora Beeson and Miss Lorene Warren were at Richmond Saturday t visit friends. Mrs. Emory Baker, who has been the guest of her uncle, Frank G. Callaway and family, returned to Portsmouth, Ohio, Saturday. The Hoosier Quartet was greeted with a fair house here Friday evening. The program, which was announced as the concert proceeded, was fine, and the quartet received many encores, both collectively and individually. Those in attendance pro nounce the concert excellent. The Rev. Mary Mills, Mrp. Sam Hoshour, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries from Friends church at this place attended the Dublin quarterly meeting, at Dublin Saturday. After many months of planning and preparation, and with every detain perfected, one of the greatest fraternal events ever held in this section of Ohio will take place Tuesday, in Eaton, when the new $20,000 temple of Waverly Lodge No. 143, Knights of Pythias, will be formally dedicated. The importance of the event has been recognized by citizens generally, and a cordial reoeptlon will be tendered the visiting Pythians, who will number more than one thousand. The temples of other lodges of the city will be thrown open and the welcoming hand extended. The city will assume gala attire and the emblematic colors of the fraternity will be floated by individuals and nearly every business house. Included in the list of visitors will be many of the grand Lodge officers, who will conduct the impressive dedicatory services according to the rituals of the order. Grand Chancellor Samuel A. Hoskins, of Wapakoneta, and Grand Vice Chancellor, Edgar W. Ellis, of Dayton, will deliver addresses. Past Grand Chancellor J. D. Clark, of Dayton, will attend and deliver a talk during the Bee si on arranged for the evening. Judge Clarence and plans dtscusses for supplying the pulpit during the absence of the pastor, Rev. A. E. Pavey, who will be away from the work for some time owing to the death of his father-in-law, in California. The regular services will be held next Sunday, a Rev. Williams having bee en secured to ftfll the pulpit that day. The sale of personal property, Saturday afternoon, by Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Morris, who are leaving for Marlon, attracted a large crowd. Albert Hindman, of Hagerstown, cried the sale, all articles commanding good prices. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Bilhiemer, of Prevlac, are visitors in the home of the former's brother, Charles Bilhiemer and family. Mrs. R. R. Watkins spent Sunday with her mother, in Richmond. Rev. of P. Lodge New Home Murphy, of Hamilton, is another who occupies a prominent place on the program. The program will begin at 1:30 under direction of Charles F. Brooke, Jr., of Waverly Lodge, who will preside as master of ceremonies. Mayor Stanley B. Foos will make the welcoming address. Following the response of Chancellor Commander William E. Reel, of the local lodge, the dedicatory services will be conducted. The evening program will begin at 8:15, with a1- welcome from Common Pleas Judge Abel C. Rieinger, of this city. The program will be concluded with an exhibition drill by Phillips company No. 24, Uniform Rank, of Hamilton. In the assemblage Tuesday will be representatives from every town in Preble county. Delegations will also be in atendance from Dayton, Richmond, Indiana, Cincinnati, Hamilton, and a number of other surrounding cities and towns. The three Pythian lodges at Hamilton will come on a special train early in the evening, and Knights at all intermediate points will be transported here. With the Hamilton delegation will come the Imperial band. day evening at her home on Maple stree. Lively conversation hastened the time as the rags were sewed, and the bals wound, and as the evening drew near the close, doughnuts, coffee and confections were served. Miss Gertrude McWhinney, of Richmond, was the guest of Miss Daisy Ayier Saturday and Sunday.
