Dry workers will be given an opportunity to hear an Indiana speaker at the mass meeting In the tabernacle tonight when E. E. Ballard, of Crawfordsville will make an address on the prohibition campaign which Is being waged In Richmond at this time. Mr. Ballard Is an able jurist and Is the author of "Ballards Laws of Real Property" which deals with various phases in the laws regarding the sale, transfer and method of procedure in cases in which real estate is Involved. S. Edgar Nicholson met the Crawfordsville speaker at the Pennsylvania depot this afternoon and escorted him to the Westcott Hotel where he will stay. Mr. Nicholson will preside at the meeting. Clifford Hutchins a campaign song man, will sing a few of his selections appropriate for the Richmond campaign. DEBATE ON MEXICO WAS GAGGED TODAY

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27. The gag was put on discussion of the Mexican situation in the house committee of foreign affairs today when behind locked doors committee postponed until Monday action on the Alney resolution calling on the president for all Information as to conditions south of the Rio Grande. Unless the administration gives its O. K., it is practically certain that

TAFT GIVES VIEWS

WASHINGTON. Feb. 27. Former President Taft made his first appearance as an expert on law before a Congressional committee today when he testified before the house judiciary committee on the reformation of law court proceedings. Professor Taft who represented the American Bar Association prescribed remedies for congestion of federal court docket where questions of law are involved so that thla branch of judicial activity may be made as efficient as the equity practice rules recently established by the United States Supreme Court.

EAST LIVERPOOL, O., Feb. 27 With a rumble that shook every building in the business center of the city, and shattered windows for blocks, a gas explosion wrecked the Perry building on Dresden avenue early today, injuring former State Senator W. D. Blake and two workmen. The damage is estimated at $25,000. The city of Los Angeles, ha illuminated signs indicating the names of streets, which are turned on and off by clock-work mechanism.
