COUNTY SAVES $700 III REPAIRING ROAD Advantages of New Road System Shown By Commissioners.
Advantages of the new road system will be proved soon, if the plans of the county commissioners for repair ing the Liberty pike washout, are carried out. A settlement in full for ?8,500 will be made Saturday with Philip Hipskind, the contractor, who was building the road when it was washdout. and the responsibility of making the repair, will then be placed on the county. .The washout damage had been estimated at $1,400 when the matter of letting a contract for the repair Job bad been mentioned by the commissioners. However, by placing it in the hands of W. O. Jones, highway commissioner, a saving of about half or 700 Is anticipated. The washout is 2,000 feet in length and is near the base of Beelor"s hill. It is a place where the river frequently, during flood periods, washes
PAINT WITHOUT OIL Remarkable Discovery That Cuts Down the Cost of Paint SeventyFive Per Cent.
A Free Trial Package is Mailed to Everyone Who Write. A. L. Rice, a prominent manufacturer of Adams, N. Y., has discovered a process of making a new kind of paint without the use of oil. He calls it Powderpaint. It comes in the J'orm of a dry powder and all that is required is cold water to make a paint weather proof, fire proof and as durable as oil paint. It adheres to any surface, wood, stone or brick, spreads and looks like oil paint and costs about one-fourth as much. Write to Mr. A. 1. Rice, Manuf'r., 506 North St., Adams, N. Y., and he will send you a free trial package, also color card and full information showing you how you can save a good many dollars. Write today. Advertisement!
over the road but . without : enoagh foroe to damage the real surface to any great . extent. However, the flood of a year ago, cut the road until It was Impassible for some time. It Is probable that the portion of the road will not be macadamised as the remainder is, but a good gravel road wilt be made instead. The commissioners decided that this Is the only practical road for the location, as any kind of road is liable to be washed out, causing a constant expense. Superintendent Jones will take bold of the matter as soon as good weather is assured. He said it was too early in the year to start the road making and as yet, bo assistant superintendent has been appointed for the district in
which the Liberty pike is located. It is probable that an appointment will be made before the road meeting Saturday. Two wome' are serving on the advisory council for medical research appointed by the English government.
