CENTERVILLE WINS OVERJJCAL TEAM R. II. S. Loses Fast and Close Game to Center Township Lads.

DUNBAR IN STAR ROLE

Centerville, 27; Richmond, 26. Refore a large crowd that packed the gallery and lilled the sidelines at the "V" gym Saturday night, the Richmond high school team went lown to defeat at the hands of the Centerville quintet by the score of

J7 to 26, in the classiest, fastest and best played exhibition of basketball over staged on the local floor. j The game was hard fought through-1 out. From the toss-up half to the : final whistle there was no letup of I furious scramble after the sphere. I Captain Thornburg drew first blood for the Red and White, on intercepting a long pass and dodging a pairj of guards, lie caged the ball from the middle of the floor. A minute later,' however, Dunbar, speedy forward, of; the visitors, shot a perfect field goal, I tieing the score. j From this point on the score went ' back and forth. At no time was one Eide more than four points ahead of the other. At the end of the first half the Center township outfit had the advantage having annexed 1T points to but 14 for the Red and White. The second half was a repetition of the first. With but one minute to play and the score standing 26 to 20, Referee Harrington called a foul on Meranda for holding; the fans hooting the decision. On the free throw. Hort caged the sphere, giving the Center township outfit a one point, lead. A second later the game ended. ; Dunbar Shows Class. j Dunbar, of the winners, was the individual point maker of the contest, trapping five baskets. Hort and Stevens ran him a close second with nine and eight points, respectively. Captain King and Bertsch did come stellar guarding, being big factors in Cen-i terville's victory. It 1b impossible to give credit to any member of the Richmond five

in particular, as the entire team played in the best of style. Ball and Hoover led the attack for the Red adn White, the former getting three field goals and three foul goals, while the latter made connections for four baskets. Hart and Thornburg covered their men in line style and deserve much credit. No substitution was made in the game. Lineup and summary :

TEAM WORK COUNTS

NEW CLUB FORMS Old Officers of Eaton Commercial Club Re-elected.

EATON, Ohio, Jan. 26. The Eaton Commercial club has been re-organized by the re-election of the old corps of officers. They follow: President, W. O. Gross; vice president, .1. H. Moorman; secretary, L. L. Brown; treasurer, Charles F. Brooke, Jr. An executive committee will be appointed later by President Gross. At the last regular meeting resolutions were adopted by the club in an endeavor to have Franklin street extended north to Somers street and to secure the erection of a new bridge across Seven Mile creek on West Main street. A committee composed of Secretary Brown, James Sharkey and J. H. Jones has been named to arrange for the club's annual banquet, which probably will be held early in February. Upon this occasion the club hopes to have present John H. Patterson and Probate Judge R. W. Bag gott, of Dayton, and Dr. Harry G. Hill of Indianapolis. At a later meeting United States Senator Theodore E. Burton will be present.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Jan. 26. Indiana failed to break the winning streak of the Earlham basketball team here Saturday night when in a fast and spectacular game the Quakers won by the score of 19 to 11.

The Quakers outplayed their opponents in both offensive and defensive departments. The work of the Yellow and White guards in the first half being so airtight that the state crew failed to get a single field goal. The first half ended 7 to 3 in favor of Earlham. At the beginning of the second half the Crimson five opened up an attack that threatened to overtake the Richmond crowd. Rbwe, Wolfe and Kemper soon discouraged this idea by a succession of brilliant team plays that gave the Quakers a safe margin. Earlham made no substitutions. Quakers Fast. Every man on the Earlham team played a stellar game. The basket shooting and team work of the visitors far excelled that of the Crimson, while the guarding was of such calibre that the Indiana forwards could do but little. For the losers Frenzel and Kirkpatrick showed form. Lineup and summary. Earlham 19. Indiana 11. Forward Rowe (Capt.)
