HAMILTON CANCELS WEDNESDAY GAME Local Y. M. C. A. Manager Is Attempting to Get Game for Saturday.

The game scheduled between the Hamilton. Y. M' C. A. and the local association team for tomorrow night has been canceled owing to a conflict in the dates of the Ohio aggregation. The management of the locals was informed that owing to the fact that the Hamilton five had a hard game Saturday night and another one booked for last night they felt that they would be unable to play the local aggregation. x , Manager Puning Immediately opened up communication with several fast teams in the hopes of securing a suitable substitute; the game to be held Saturday night instead of Wednesday night. The team most likely to be booked for that night is the Dayton A. C, which needs no recommendation, that team having defeated all the independent organizations in that section of the state. The expense attached to bringing this squad to the city will be considerable and the locals deserve the support of the fans in bringing the teams of this calibre to the city. The Real Trouble. Commends Superintendent.

In conclusion the report reads: "Our purpose and wish is always that our hospital shall be so managed and conducted as that it shall be the means of the largest possible good to all our people, and meet the fair and just expectations of all our citizens. The past year has been the most prosperous of any preceeding. We have given hospital care to a much larger number than ever before and our superintendent and her assistants including the nurses, are earnest workers, capable and efficient, and, we believe, are carrying on the work in a manner satisfactory to all. Our board of trustees is devoting its time and best efforts to manage the affairs of the hospital economically so far as possible, without lowering its stan

dards and efficiency, and with the purpose, that each year prove a larger benefit and good to all classes of our citizens."

inated the public would be saved some

tnousands of dollars, more than justifylng the expense of employing an ; engineer," Mr. Bond said. He also said It was probable the entire appro- ; priation of $600 would be more than

necessary. Mr. Watts will appear for the city at. the hearing of the water works case before the commission as an expert witness for the city. To Buy Motorcycle. The Richmond police department is to have a motorcycle which is to be used for answering emergency calls sent into headquarters. An automobile is needed much moro than a motorcycle, for each day there are demands for one, but the citymust plow a fine row in its finances this year to keep within its limited income, so the much desired automobile will not be purchased until next year. "To do the vvor.v in our city which we ought to do and wish to do, we must keep our prices within the reach of those of our people of moderate or small means. "Our private rooms have been in price below that charged in most hospitals, and our board has determined to raise the price of rooms so that our largest and best rooms will be $25 per week, two will be $20, one $18, four small rooms will remain $12 as now, and the remaining rooms for which we have been charging $15, we have raised to $16 per week. "We have also determined to leave our ward rate at $1.00 per day for citizens of Richmond only, and to charge all persons not residents of the city $1.50 per day or $10 per week in the wards. f! - "This price, we believe, is not high, considering the service we give and the raise in price is found necessary as a help to maintain the institution." Representatives for City. "We are pleased," the report states ' in another place, "to report that we have adopted the plan approved by your honorable body in June, 1912, receiving and electing upon our board two trustees suggested by council and also appointing an advisory board composed of five physicians and surgeons of the city, and we have found both the representa,Uon of the city, on

the hospital.

Hire Expert Engineer, After City Attorney Bond had explained that he i'elt the necessity of

having expert engineering advice on the water works valuation question, so that he could clearly present his case when arguing before the state public utility commission to have the valuation lowered, council unanimously passed, on suspension of the rules, an ordinance appropriating $600 to pay the salary of Engineer Watts, of Princeton, Indiana, and his expenses. The same ordinance appropriated $100 each for the mayor and the builidng inspector, to be used by them to defray their office expenses. Councilman O'Neal of the sixth ward, before voting for the ordinance, asked the city attorney to explain to council the necessity for the city to employ an rnsinepr on the water works question, which Mr. Bond did, to the entire satisfaction of the city fathers. The city attorney explained that the commission's engineers had placed an estimate on the cost of reproducing the plant for the purpose of estab

lishing a basis for water rates. Bond 1

believes there were several items in this valuation that should not be credited as assets of the water works company but that these facts could only be accurately determined by an engineer, and that when he proposed

petition not be "turned down," passed

an ordinance appropriating $300 for this purpose. It is probable that both a day and night officer will be assigned to the "motorcycle squad", and stationed at headquarters to answer all calls demanding prompt responses. One more officer may be added to the force.
