EARLHAM VICTOR IN OPENING GAME
Down Winona Aggies By . Overwhelming Score of 24 to 7. ROWE IN LIMELIGHT Wolf Also Plays Fast Game and Williams Holds Up Reputation. EARLHAM 24; WINONA 7. . Frank Duning. Playing in inulsea.son form the Quaker five decisively trimmed the Winona aggregation in a fast and interest ing, but rather one-sided game at the j Coliseum last night. Although this is the first game the Earlham five exhibited an article of ball that promises much for the coming season. The style of play introduced by Coach Reagan was very effective and far outclassed that of the opposing quintet. Winona made the initial score on a foul throw by Rock. This lead was overcome a minute later when Kemper, the elongated center of the yellow and white threw a pretty field goal. 'roni this time on the locals were never in danger and the only question was sow large the score would be. Rowe In Stellar Role. Captain Rowe as usual took the stellar role. Time and again he brought, forth yells of joy from the Earlham barkers by sensational shots from difficult angles. Wolfe played a fast and consistent game securing three field and four foul goals. Kemper, at center, covered his man well, at the same lime getting in the box score. Williams and Lancaster upheld their reputation as "being as good as any in the state." Stanley Thistlethwaite and Lamb played well, considering the time they were in the game. They proved that the Quakers will not be lacking in good second string men. For the visitors no one in particular nhone very brilliantly in the illuminating line although Stroup exhibited class. Day and Gilbert played a .good j game.
