A watch party was given Wednesday evening by Miss Mary Williams, at her home on South Twenty-third and B streets. The house was decorated in the Christmas colors. The evening was spent socially and with music, dancing and games. At a late hour an elegant supper was served. The guests were Misses Mary Williams, Therese Collins, Anna McManus, Margaret Kamp, Margaret Ritburger, Vera Pfafflin, Ruth Broderiek, Messrs. Clarence Coil. Complimenting Miss Ruth Pythian of Indianapolis, who is the guest of -Miss Delores Kllis, a pretty party was given last evening at the Kllis home on West Main street. All the decorations were in keeping with the "hristrnas season. The evening was spent socially and with games and music. An elegant luncheon in several courses was served. A beautiful home wedding was solemnized New Year's Day at high noon when Mr. Richard Paulson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Paulson, who reside south of the city, and Miss Retia Mav Iowiisend. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Townsend. were married at the iiome of the bride's parents near Whitewater. Members of the immediate families and near friends were in attendance. The Gamma Chapter of the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity at Marion, gave a matinee dance Thursday afternoon at the Commercial club hall. No formal invitations were issued but all patrons of their dances were cordially invited to attend. An assembly party will be given this evening in the Odd Fellows'" hall by Mrs. Frank Crichot for her pubils and the young people who are home for the holidays. PITMAN CONDEMNS EIGHT CARCASSES
Only eight carcasses wore condemned last year, according to the annual report of Charles Pitman, city meat inspector, which was tiled today with City Clerk Bescher. The report follows: Animals killed. 5.171: condemned, cattle 4, calves 1, hogs 3. STRAW CAUSES FIRE Straw, burning in a shed belonging to J. W. Howies, not; South Ninth, was the cause of a fire alarm at S:0.", la.-t. evening. The origin of the blaze is unknown. No damage resulted.
