Preparatory to managing the affairs of the city, appointees, whom Mayor-elect Robbins selected to fill positions, are studying the methods of the present administration and learning the general routine of duties in each office. For several days Clarence Kleinknecht, who will manage the city light plant has been going over the plant with Superintendent Johnson, and receiving instruction regarding the complicated system of keeping accounts which has been installed in the office. Improvements on Parks. Superintendent of Parks, Hollarn tias been showing his successor, Charles II. Ford, about Glen Miller and the other city parks. Mr. Hollarn has pointed out the things he believes should be done and the improvemeints already planned, such as repairs to the spillway, boulders in one of the drives and disposal of. some of the elk. Oscar Mashmeyer, who will become sanitary inspector with the change in administration has been learning from Hie present incumbent, George Young. George Knollenberg, successor to Street Commissioner Genn has been associated with him for some time in the street department and has the affairs of his office well in hand. Harry Goodwin, next chief of the police department, is acquainting himself with the city ordinances and state ;'vh. He is also studying police methods in Richmond and other cities where efficiency is the watchword.

Contributions for the municipal Christmas celebration began to come to police headquarters early today. Mayor Zimmerman donated $2, and the Eagles lodge $5, which with other contributions amounts to more thaa 15. George Bayer gave the first toys, two boxes of flying birds. Councilman Frank Jones who undertook the job of getting candy to fill packages for 1,000 children said he would make the rounds of the grocery stores Monday instead of today as he had planned. Mrs. Elizabeth Candler, city missionary, and Captain Sanford of the Salvation Arrny have consented to help Santa Claus distribute the gifts. The Honeywell chorus will consider the question of singing at the tree, at the meeting Sunday afternoon following the dedication of the tabernacle. J. H. McAfee will present the matter at that time.
