ASSOCIATION TEAM
DEFEATS EARL Quakers, Playing Second Men Unable to Stop Onslaught. LANNING IS THE STAR Y. M. C. A. Men Guilty of Breaches in Intercollegiate Rules. Three Earlham students, the coach and 146 townspeople saw the Y. M. C. A. basketball team trim the Quakers last night by a score of 37 to 24. The game was to have been played under intercollegiate rules, but owing to the unfamiliarity of Referee Harrington with the nature of these rules since their revision, they were not followed closely and the varsity squad suffered. Lanning, an Karlham sophomore, who is not a member of the Quaker squad, played with the Y. M. C. A. quintette and was individually responsible for the crushing blow. No guard could keep up with him, and the ball waa almost invariably caged a second after he received it. First Closely Contested. The first half was closely contested, ending with the score 11 to 9 in favor of the college team. The game was close through most of the second half but. in the last few minutes Lanning began to get in his work, throwing a goal every few seconds. New men were placed on the floor by the Earlham coach in an effort to stop the (daughter, but the scoring went on. banning threy 11 field goals in this half. By intercollegiate rules player may be disqualified for a personal foul such as riding an opponent or guarding him too enthusiastically. The association team was guilty of a number of such breaches of the rules and the Quakers protested vigorously. An effort wast made to have Brunton taken out of the game after he had been credited with six personal fouls, but the referee refused to listen to the pleas of the Earlham players. Lineup and summary: Y. M. C. A. Lanning, Jones forwards; Roach, Dunning, center; Parker. Brunton, Brown guards. Earlham Rowe, Wolfe, forwards; Kemper, Coxf center; Thistlethwaite, Lamb, Stanley, Tmeblood, guards. Field goals, Y. M. C. A., Lanning, 14, Jones 4, Dunning 1, Parker 1, Brunton 1, Brown 1. Earlham. "I think I have bumped up against the real thing in Chamberlain's Tablets," writes D. R. Thomas, of Tidioute, Pa. "They do the work and cause no unpleasant reaction." In cases of constipation when pills and saline cathartics are used, their use is often followed by constipation, as they take so much water out of the system. On the other hand, the effect of Chamberlain's Tablets is so agreeable and so natural that you do not realize that it has been produced by a medicine, and no reaction follows their use. For sale by all dealers. (Advertisement) HOBBY M CRUEL So Says Leona Moss ia Divorce Petition. The divorce suit of Leon Moss against her husband James Moss, was tried today.
