The night and day forces are both under the ruling. This reduction of a day's work it is said, comes as a second method to reduce expenses. A few weeks ago about fifty men of the car department were laid off temporarily following orders from the Philadelphia headquarters. Since that time a few of the men have been ordered to resume duties when the freight business took a sudden turn for the good.
