Things move lively In the Wayne county courts at times, but they rarely exceed the speed limit. Henry county lawyers had their eyes opened one day this week when a liquor case venued from Henry county was taken before Judge Fox and a decision returned before the Ink was scarcely dry on the clerk's docket. Another applicant at once got out an injunction restraining the Henry county clerk from issuing the license granted by Judge Fox on the grounds that the case could not be legally tried here until it had been on the docket ten days. "Those attorneys don't know the law," said Judge Fox today. The Judge said in case a Jury trial had been venued they would be correct in their contention. In this case there was no jury trial and it was not necessary that the case be at issue ten days before it was heard. GARFIELD NOTES Health day was celebrated at Garfield by a talk from Dr. David W. Dennis, of Earlham college, on the subject of typhoid fever and tuberculosis. His talk was illustrated and interspersed with anecdotes so that it was highly Interesting to the pupils and who will no doubt result In good. The 8A pupils are beginning preparations for their promotion to high school. No graduating exercises are held at the close of their Garfield career, but it has been the custom for some years for the class to give a reception to their parents and to tho high school teachers. At this time the parents and teachers are able to ask and answer quesions in a way to help the pupils in their new work. The class met Thursday morning and chose a committee to arrange the reception for this term, those children being Mabel Shaver, Frances. Kinder, Hazel Stevenson, Russell Beck, Benjamin Rost and Anthony Hafner. On next Thursday morning Principal Pickell of the high school, is to meet with the 8A pupils to begin a discussion of the high school course of study so that they may have their work all planned before the end of the term. Chapel exercises will be held next week the last hour on Friday instead of on Wednesday morning, and will be devoted to exercises referring to the Christmas holiday. A copy of the new course of study, showing the plan of promotion on the credit system has been gotten out by the boys in the printing department and will be ready for distribution to the pupils next week. The average length of life, it is stated, rose from 21i years in the Sixteenth century, to 40 years in the nineteenth centurv. TO THE DEMOCRATS OF WAYNE COUNTY. In the midst of that wonderful collection of the sourenirs of battle that are on permanent exhibition to Trophj hall at the Naval academy in Annapolis are the nation's unknown trophies. Flags that were captured In now forgotten engagements are buns In the cases side by side with those whose glorious history Is known. Two of thene sourenirs of forgotten battles are British Caps. One Is a Jack marked Avon and nothing more; the other Is the end;rn of a warship and is marked Bereford. From the condition of both of these Cags It la supposed that they date bsck to th war of 1812. but history gives no record of ships bearing those names beins nt to American waters by Great Britain. Another of the mystery flags la the "Sl-T flag. In great white figures thla number appears on a field of bine, and the entire Cag Is bordered with red. Frota some engagement in the war with the Moorish pirat-i- the flag that the officers at Annapolis came to call the "house Cag" seems to bare come.
