SOCIAL CALENDAR SOCIAL EVENTS FOR FRIDAY. Mrs. Frank Crltchet will meet tier beginner's class in dancing in the Odd Fellow's hall. At nine o'clock the assembly party will be held. Mrs. Prank Watt will entertain with a bridge party at her home on South Fifteenth street. The Tourist club will meet with the Misses Robinson at their home on North Eleventh street. An important social event will be the large reception to be given at the Public Art Gallery for the members of the Art Association. Social Number Nine Pythian Slaters will meet with Mrs. K. VV. Stigelman at her home on North P'ourteenth street. The Mary Hill W. C. T. U. will meet at 2:30 o'clock with Mrs. Bert Cook at her home, corner West Fifth and Sehool streets. SOCIAL GATHERINGS A notable social function for the week was the pretty bridge party siven this afternoon by Mrs. Frank Watt at her home on South Fifteenth street, when she entertained about fifty guests at bridge. Richmond roses were used in decorating the rooms where the guests were entertained. Three favors were given to the fortunate ones. After the game an elegant luncheon in several courses was nerved at the card tables. They were prettily appointed with flowers and ferns. The invited guests were Mesdames K. R. An assembly party will be held Friday evening in the Odd Fellow's hall under the direction of Mrs. Frank Crichet. The party will begin at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Crichet's class will meet at 7 o'clock. The galleries will not be open to the public until after 9 o'clock as Mrs. Crichet will teach the one step and several other new dances. The classis now dancing the Tango.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kolp are arranging for an elaborate Thanksgiving ball to be given Thursday night, November 27 in the Pythian Temple. A saxophone trio from Columbus, Ohio will furnish the music. The young people who have been attending their assembly parties will be privileged to attend this function. A Thanksgiving dance will be given at the Odd Fellow's hall by the members of the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity sometime during Thanksgiving week The Saxophone Trio will furnish the music. Invitations will be sent out in a few days. Several out-of-town guests who will spend the vacation here are expected to attend. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES. A "Thank-offering meeting" of the First English Lutheran church was held yesterday afternoon in the church parlors. There was a large attendance of the membership. The following program was given: Hymn Devotional Exercises Mrs. Engelbrecht Report of the Convention at Louisville Mrs. Will Romey Duet "Count Your Many Blessings" Mrs. F. W. Krueger, Mrs. Fred Bartel Roll Call The thank offering boxes were brought to the altar and as they were placed on the altar each member told of something she had to be thankful for. Hymn By Guests. Miss Rose Oxer, a returned missionary from India, gave an interesting address. Mrs. F. W. Krueger sang a solo. Rev. Howard gave a talk after which the doxology was sung. The guests
were then invited to the dining room where a luncheon was served. The tables were appointed with smilax and ferns.
An interesting meeting of the Friend's Foreign Missionary society was held Wednesday at the home of Mrs. W. O. Mendenhall, 204 College avenue. Fifty persons attended. "Medical Missions" was the subject for the afternoon. The program was in charge of Mrs. Truman Kenworthy, Mrs. Charles Marvel and Mrs. Frances Anscombe. A number of the members participated in the discussion which followed. The society will meet the second Wednesday afternoon in December at the home of Miss Nancy Moorman. Mrs. H. V. McLelland was hostess Wednesday afternoon for a meeting of the Perseverance Bible class of the First Baptist church at her home on North Ninth street. About twenty-five members were present. The hostess was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. Llgon. The afternoon was spent socially. A luncheon in several courses was served at the close of the affair. The next meeting will be held the second Wednesday in December. The hostess will be announced later.
Social Number Nine Pythian Sisters will meet Friday afternoon with Mrs. E. W. Stigleman at her home 24 North Fourteenth street. All members are asked to be present. Luncheon will be served. The Country club class in dancing under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kolp will meet next Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the Country club. The members of the Scrooge's club gave a "spread" Wednesday afternoon. The afternoon was spent socially after which a delicious luncheon was served. The members of the club are: Misses Blanch Ireton, Hazel Mashmeyer, Jessie Cronin and Mr. Winfleld Irwin. An all-day meeting of the Woman's Aid society of the Reid Memorial Presbyterian church was held Wednesday in the church parlors. The hours were spent in making articles for the Christmas bazaar which the society will hold during the holidays. At noon lunch was served. Mrs. Clinton Sell was hostess Wednesday afternoon for a meeting of a Card club at her home on Pearl street. Cards were played at three tables. The favors went to Mesdames W. O, Steddom, Bert Colvin, Fred Comptou
and Walter Farlow. At the close of the game the hostess served an elegant luncheon. The next meeting will be held in a fortnight. The members of !the club are Mesdames Will Eikenberry, Philip Glockner, Walter Farlow, Fred Thompson, Bert Colvin. O. K. Smith. George Hunt, Charles Huffman. Frank Lehman, Charles Taylor and Clinton Sell. Mrs. D. W. Stevenson was hostess yesterday afternoon for a meeting of the Ladies Aid society of the First ; Methodist church. Several important i business matters were considered. There was an attendance of nineteen. : A social hour -was enjoyed and refresh- ; ments served.
