CHILDREN EXPOSED TO SCARLET FEVER Spread of Disease in District School Number 14 Feared.
. do not believe that a spread of scarlet fever among the pupils of the No. 14 school can be averted," said Dr. J. II. Kinsey today. He stated that what was believed to have been "green walnut rash" by the mother of a family of three children, was found to be scarlet fever, after he had been summoned too late to prevent nine-year-old Clifford Bech from associating with all the other pupils of the school. Clifford, aged 9; Marie, aged 4 and Dorothy, 18 months old, are at their home on the New Paris pike, all three attacked by the disease. "I thought it was rash from eating green walnuts," said Mrs. Beech, the mother, after her eoq had exposed the pupils of the school. Dr. Kinsey believes the school should bo closed at once, although Dr. Georgfi B. Hunt was appointed to examine the pupils every morning during this week. The disease may break out from three to nine days after the child has been exposed, and as Clifford Beech attended school last Friday afternoon there still will be danger of scar! fever breaking out next Monday. County Superintendent Willirur. said he would order the school closf" if any evidence of spread is seen o if another case is reported in th. neighborhood.

Donation day for the Mission Home for the Friendless will be observed Tuesday, October 28. The matron of the institution, Mrs. Anrelia Thomas states that the institution is in need of everything, clothing, bed clothing, food supplies and fuel. Persons who have anything they do not need that can be used in caring for the unfortunates who live in the institution, are requested to send it to the home on this date. At the present time the institution is very much overcrowded, having thirty-two inmates, including both old and young. Two years ago the people responded very liberally to the request for hip on this day, and a large amount of useful things were given for the use of the home.
