THIS IS JOUGH LOCK! "Chollie" Bailey Must Take Occasional Bath.
Because his body is covered with vermin, Charles Bailey, who is in the county jail for intoxication, will be given additional punishment in the form of being compelled to bathe every day of his eleven-day sentence. In addition to this hardship on Bailey, according to the prisoner, he must eat his meals and spend his time alone. Rice Miller, jail custodian, says a daily bath, a thing unknown to Bailey for more than a year, he said, Is the worst punishment on the prisoner he could think of. Custodian Miller will try to accustom Bailey to an occasional dip after he is out of jail.
Buy a tag Saturday to help the hospital. CHANGE IN TIME OF PAYING SALARY
A change was made in the time when county officials receive their salaries, eliminating the former conflict between the law which automatically reverts all balances on appropriations into the general fund on the first of each year, and another whcih made the county pay days lap over one month onto the following year. The officials now receive their salaries on the first day of April, July, October and the last day of December. Prior to this the salaries were paid on the first day of May, August, November and January, the January payment being the one which caused & conflict between the laws. As the balances on all funds were legally to be placed back into the general fund at the beginning of each new year, a balance of one month's lalary for each of the officials would have reverted into the fund had not special provision been made which prevented the closing of the yearly accounts until the salaries had been paid on the last day of January.

BACKACHE A WARNING YOU SHOULD HEED
It is One of Nature's First Signs of Kidney Troubles, if Neglected, Serious Diseases May Follow.
When the kidneys are clogged up and inactive, nature has a way of warning you. Backache is one of the first symptoms. You may also be troubled with disagreeable, annoying bladder disorders; have attacks of lumbago or rheumatism; become , nervous, tired and feel all worn out; puffy swellings show under the eyes or in the feet and ankles; and many other symptoms are noticed. If they are neglected, dropsy, diabetes or Bright's Disease, which so often prove fatal, may result. It is not only dangerous, but needless for you to suffer and endure the tortures of these troubles, when a little Croxone now will quickly and surely end all such misery. There is no more effective remedy known for all such troubles than Croxone, because it reaches the cause. It soaks right into the kidneys, through the walls and linings; cleans out the clogged up pores; neutralizes and dissolves the poisonous uric acid and waste matter that lodge in the joints and muscles and cause those terrible rheumatic pains, and makes the kidneys filter and sift the poison out of tho blood and drive it from the system. You will find Croxone different from all other remedies. It is practically Impossible to take it without results. An original package costs but a trifle, and all druggists are authorized to return the purchase price if Croxone should fail in a single case. Three loses a day for a few days is often all that is ever needed to end the worst backache, relieve rheumatic pains, or overcome urinary disorders. (Advertisement)
Hungry Boys Watch F. M.C.A. Lads Dine
While the orchestra swept merrily through the strains of popular music and three hundr r' --ua kept time with their toen, a, i-its blazed brightly and kind worrun brought loads of good things to eat, two ragged little boys sat in an obscure corner of the gallery of the Y. M. C. A. gymnasium Wednesday evening and gazed with wonder not unmixed with sorrow upon their more unfortunate fellows. The boys had come late to the banquet, but each of them had a pocket that would still hold a pencil, marble and other things upon which a small boy sets store. In these sound pockets each boy had a silver quarter tucked away, a whole quarter equalling in purchasing power two dimes and a nickle, enqugh money to give the fortunate possessor the entree to the feed. "You are too late boys. The seats are all taken" said the man at tire door, to whom the boys proffered the price of admission. With tears in their
eyes, the urchins turned Borrowfuiry away, about to quit the building. The banquet to which they had looked forward for weeks, to be present at which they had hoarded their pennies for e"ver so long, was already going on and they could not be present. As they turned to walk out, one of the boys spied a winding stairway lead ing to the gallery. There was a short whispered conversation, a patter of feet and the two boys stood in the gallery high above the festivities below. Here they remained until the last of the dishes had been cleared away and the master of ceremonies had arisen to introduce the speaker of the evening. Just as the boys started to creep down the stairway they were met by a kind-hearted waiter bringing ice cream, cake and some of the other good things on the menu which had been sent at the direction of Secretary Pettijohn who has been a boy himself.
GIVES DEFINITION OF TERM "LIFE
Life is an eternal question mark and the answer is God." said "Sunshine" Hawks in a short talk before the stu
dents of the high school. "Philosophers give as a definition that "Life" is the absence of death and that Death' is the absence of life but the above
, definition is the best. ! Mr. Hawk's talk was full of humor and was thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils. i Mr. Hawks was the platform manag- ! er of the last Chautauqua.

KEEP LOOKING YOUNG
j Baltimore, Md., July 10, 1913. i "About twenty years ago both my ; legs began to itch from ankle to j knee. Little pimples came out that : looked very much like heat. The I itching and burning was something terrible. I would start to scratch and ; could not stop, I would even, scratch
i through the skin and that of course
would leave a sore which I was compelled to bandage. "I tried several prescriptions and treatments, but received not a particle of benefit no more than if the treatments were cold water. I then began to have little faith in anything and of course would do nothing but scratch away. After suffering constantly for twenty years, a friend recommended Besinol Soap and Resinol Ointment. From the very first application. I found relief, and was entirely cured in ten days. The itching and stinging sensations have ceased and
i mv skin is as smooth as a childs."
