ED DISTEL DEAD. Ed. Distel, captain of Pennsylvania railroad police who began his career at Fort Wayne, died at Harrisburg, Pa., after an illness of Bright's disease. He will be buried in Fort Wayne or Tiffin, Ohio. Captain Distel began as patrolman under Captain Stoll at Fort Wayne.

TO HOLD MEETING. Directors of the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad will hold a meeting on August 21 to discuss and take action on the quarterly dividend. during the thirteen years and six months the plan has been in operation, a total of 7478 men have received payments through the pension funds of the Pennsylvania system of $8,913,157.50 out of the earnings of the various companies. Of this amount, $6,727,792.22 have been paid on the lines east of Pittsburg, and $2,185,365.29 have been paid on that portion of the Pennsylvania system west of Pittsburgh. Of those who have received pensions, 3544 have died, so that at the present time there are 3934 men on the pension rolls of the company. Of these, 2949 are on the lines east of Pittsburg, and 985 West of Pittsburgh.

USE ELECTRIC LIGHTS. The Baltimore and Ohio railroad has Installed electric lights on the rear end of all through trains. These are of attractive design and the official colors of the road, blue and gold are used. They are the first signs of their kind qused by any railroad.

(National News Assoclatlcy-i) WILLEMSTAD, Curaco, Aug. 15. The exact whereabouts of Cipriano Castro, who is trying to overthrow the Gomez government in Venezuela have been discovered. Castro is not in Venezuela, but is directing his operations from a small island called Buen

Ayre, which lies in LaL 12 degrees and 20 mins. north. Of its 5,000 Inhabitants fewer than 500 are white. It so happens that at the present time the United States is negotiating for the purchase of the island on which to establish a coaling station. Word has been communicated to the Gomez administration in Caracas, of Castro's whereabouts and it is expected that steps will at once be taken to have him sent away from the island. Castro is living with a German plantation owner.
