Alleging that her husband has deserted her and has failed to. support her and their six-year-old daughter, Mrs. Miranda Elstro has filed, suit for divorce from Frederick H. Elstro. The complaint sets forth that the plaintiff and the defendant were married September 15, 190C, and that they lived together until two years ago. Since then he has deserted her repeatedly, and in addition to failure to support, has abused her. Mrs. Elstro asks the court to give her custody of the daughter, Winifred Marie, asserting that the father is not a fit person to have the custody of the child.

posted on the bulletin boards of the local shops and offices, there has been paid to date in claims both for death and disability since July, 1889, the great sum of $10,093,803.83. During the last quarter, $220,160 has been
paid out for claims, while receipts for
toe same time were z ,i.o.. u total number of claims paid since 1889 amount to 462.S87. The surplus at present in the bands of the association is $11,224,526.94.
