MILTON NOW m TOWNSHIP SCHOOL
(Palladium Special) MILTON, Ind., Aug. 14. Following n agitation started at a recent joint meeting of the Parents-Teachers Association, the Milton school will be changed from a corporation to a townBhip school. Lycurgus Beeson, president of the school board, outlined the deeds of the school, explaining present conditions and showing the benefits to be derived from the change. After conferring with H. H. Miller, township trustee, a committee from the association drew up a petition to secure subscriptions from all the tax payer sof the town. One hundred and two signatures were secured. Mr. Beeson presented the petition at a special meeting of the Milton school board &A Tuesday evening and the change to a township school was voted. County superintendent Williams, W. II. Miller, Lycurgus Beeson and James Baker visited the school houses of Randolph county Wednesday. They will begin Immediately to lmpro the Hilton school along the line of Ideas which they got on this trip. A WEDDING (Palladium Special) CAMBRIDGE CITY. Ind., Aug. 14. The Riverside Flour mill is running again. The machinery is all new. Glen Schlegel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schlegel, south of town is sick. Clifford Leukenour, who has been visiting his aunt, Miss Cora Bennett, returned to his home in Edinburg Tuesday. His aunt accompanied him to Indianapolis. Mrs. W. W. Wallace entertained the Tri-county Thimble club Tuesday afternoon. Miss Dora Wallace is spending a few days at Terre Haute with her sister. Miss Edna Wallace, a student at the State Normal. " Mrs. Morton Warren spent Tuesday at Dublin wirti her sister, Mrs. Butler. Llnville Wallace was at Connersville Tuesday. New Paris The New Paris colored church which has been almost entirely rebuilt, and redecorated was dedicated with appropriate ceremonies last Sunday. Many visitors from neighboring towns were present. New Paris Three hunting licenses have been issued by Township Clerk Mikesell, under the new law. Milton Many members of the Christian church here, accompanied by the Milton Drum Corps, went to Jackson Park this morning to attend the county picnic of the Christian churches. Milton Charles Nugent, who submitted to an operation for appendicitis at the Reid Memorial Hospital recently, stood the operation very well. Hardware Co. at Richmond Is spending two weeks vacation overhauling his auto. Hollandsburg Mrs. Irvin Mikesell has filed suit for divorce from her husband. She asks alimony. The trial has been set for September 2. Arba The Arba ball team defeated a team from Lynn 4-3 Sunday. Cambridge City Miss Helen Doney will teach in the first grade of the Middletown, Ind., schools during the coming year. SOCIETY GIVES FETE (Palladium Special) CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind.. Aug. 14 ! The ladies of the Social Union of the Methodist church, gave a lawn fete and thimble party in honor of Mrs. Thaddeus Frazier at the home of Mrs. Edward Paul, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Frazier has been actively associated with this society since its organization and will soon change her residence to New Castle. The afternoon was delightfully spent in conversation, with music on the piano and victrola. Remarks to the departing member were made by Mrs. Paul with a response from Mrs. Frazier. With the passing of each day's session is recorded a better interest and larger attendance at the annual institute of the Preble County Teachers' Association, which is being held this week in the Eaton opera house. Dr. W. W. Parsons, president of Indiana State Normal, Terre Haute, and Dr. Charles H. Albert, head of the department of education in the Bloomburg (Pa.) Young, republican, as chief. Charles C. Spring, democrat, was made clerk. C. O. Fisher, republican, was an applicant for the clerkship, but loet out in the draw necessitated when the vote of the four members of the board went to a tie. Spring filled the position last year. The contract for the ballots to be used at the coming primary was awarded the Eaton Register. NEW CRANOR HOTEL BUILT AT ECONOMY (Palladium Special ECONOMY, Ind., Aug. 14 Hotel Cranor, the new and modern hostelry which has been built by Mrs Esiella Cranor, is now completed. It is a twelve-room structure and was erected at a cost of $3,500. Mrs. Cranor will operate the hotel.
