CRITICIZES WILSON (National News Association) LOS ANGELES, Aug.' 6. Criticism Df the courtof the Wilson administration was contained in address by Govt erno Hiram Johnson, vice presidential candidate on the Progressive ticket last year, speaking at the first anniversary celebration last night of the founding of the Progressive party. ; v "The national administration has not come up to expectations," he said. "We have a foreign policy that is -weak and oscillating. One word from Theodore Roosevelt is worth a whole army from Woodrow Wilson. We were shocked by the -whitewashing of Ballinger by President Taft. That differed in no essential from the whitewashing of McReynolds by Wilson." MULHALL IS NERVOUS (National Newa Association) WASHINGTON, Aug. 6. Pleading that he was suffering from nervousness, Colonel Mulhall obtained permission from the house lobby investigating committee to return home to Baltimore and take a rest. He promised to be on hand next Monday to testify and thought he would be able to find more startling letters to present to the committee. . The committee today permitted J. E. Smith, counsel for Representative Mo Dermott U ..cross-examine Lewis Seibold, a newspaper man. Counsel demanded that the revised proof and copies of the Mulhall exposure in the New York World be subpoenaed and the committee took the matter under consideration. Seibold declined to telf whether or not a representative of the Chicago Tribune was present when the newspaper story was being prepared. CHANGE IN FORM After ordering eleven books at an expense of $196, according to specifications of the state board of examiners, City Controller McMahan this morning was forced to order the work -topped as the result of a notice received from the board that changes will be made in the bookkeeping forms of the state accounting department. The department recently issued a form of bookkeeping to be used by all third-class cities In the state. This was the result of much complaint on the part of the cities, and the form adopted was suggested to the department by Mr. McMahan with a few minor changes. , The department has ordered the cities to wait until the end of the present fiscal year before printing any of the forms, as changes probably will be made. j Five of the books in the system are used by the city controller, while the county treasurer, acting as city treasurer, uses six of the set. TO ATTEND BARBEQUE Oscar Rich and Joseph Helms, both of this city, left Richmond this morning to attend a picnic and barbacue, which will be given by the Cattle Feeders and Stock Growers' Association of Indiana on a large stock farm near Battle Ground, Ind. ; The event will be held tomorrow. C Bullerdick at $4.55. Coal for the jail, Mather Bros., at 4.65 a ton. IS RE-ELECTED BOSTON, Aug. 6. Supreme Knight James A.
