SOCIAL EVENTS FOR SATURDAY. Mr. Frank Schalk will entertain Informally at his Lome in North Elghleentn street. Several theatre parties will be given at the Murray.
INVITATIONS OUT. Invitations reading as follows have been received by persons in this city: Miss Ethel Harwood Requests the honor of your presence at the wedding of her sister, Miss Marguerite, and Mr. William Wiles Elder, On the evening of Monday the eighteenth of August, at seven-thirty o'clock, Holy Trinity Church, Swanton, Vermont. Mr. Elder formerly resided in this city and has a host of friends here. After the ceremony a reception will be held. Mr. Eider has a residence in East Orange, New Jersey.
PRETTY AFFAIR. An attractive social event for today was the pretty afternoon party given by Mrs. Harry Shaw at her apartments in the Reed flats, when she entertained in honor of her guest. Mrs. Charles Shaw of Indianapolis, anl also for Mrs. E. Levy of Bay City, Michigan, Miss Haas and Mrs. Milo Kerrell of Chicago. The ' rooms were arranged throughout with pink roses and ferns. The guests included members of a card club. The favors and tally cards were done in pink. They were very rretty. Bridge was played at four tables. After the game the hostess served c'i delicious luncheon at the card tables. The color scheme, pink and green, was carried out in the menu. This was one of the most attractive social events of the week.

HAVE EAEY DAUGHTER. Cards announcing the birth of a baby daughter to Mr and Mrs. Norman Craighead (nee Miss Fannie Jones) at their home in Dallas, Texas, have been received by friends in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Craighead formerly resided In Richmond. Their many friends are glad to extend congratulations.
GUESTS HERE. Mr. and Mrs. Oakley Polk (nee Miss Hilda Shute) of Newcastle are guests of Mrs. Eleanora Shute for a few days at her home in North C street.
FOR MISS ANDREWS. In honor of Miss Maude Andrews of Syracuse, New York., who is the guest of Mrs. E. J. Dykeman, Mrs. J. A. Conkey entertained informally this afternoon at her apartments in the Wayne. Flowers and ferns were used in decorating the rooms. Bridge was played at three tables. Favors were given.
ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED. Mr. and Mrs. Erv.in Daily have announced the engagement of their daughter. Miss Fauline Daily, to Mr. Charles Eloff. The wedding will be celebrated August second at the home of the bride's parents.
MET THURSDAY. A meeting of the Woman's Relief Corps was held yesterday afternoon at. the post rooms in the court house. A number of important business matters' were considered at this time.
TO VISIT. Mr. Arthur Reece of Cambridge City will spent Sunday here the guest of Miss Hazel Thomas at her home in North C street. ANNOUNCE MARRIAGE. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Mnlltn have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Ruth Arlos, to Mr. Frank Marlon Walley of New Paris, Ohio. After a honeymoon trip to points in Pennsylvania and New York, they will be at home to their friends in their new home In New Paris. They have the best wtfshes of all for a most happy future.
TO ENTERTAIN. Among the hostesses for next week will be Mrs. R. R. Van Zant, who will entertain at her home in North Tenth street, in honor of Mrs. K. Levy of Ray City, Michigan, and Mrs. Charles Shaw of Indianapolis. The afternoon will be spent playing bridge.
HAS RETURNED. Mrs. E. R. Close has returned from a visit with relatives in Northern, Michigan.
SAIL NEXT MONTH. Mr. and Mrs. William Dudley Foulke find daughter, Miss Gwendoline Foulke, who have been traveling in Europe for some time, will sail for New York on the steamship Lapland. August the twenty-third. They expect to arrive in Richmond about the first of September.
DANCE AT PARK. A delightful dancing party was given last evening in the pavilion at Jackson park by members of the Phi Delta Kappa fratenity. Miss Crump and Mr. Fred Rossiter furnished the music. By LA RACONTEUSE. It is of white silk tulle with bunches of flowers in the pink and light green colors over a classical foundation of pale blue charmeuse. The bodice, cut in "V", is almost totally veiled front and back by a draped fichu of chiffon, edged with a flounce of maline lace. The sleeves are an apology for sleeves, being made of a small frill of the same laee. The belt is draped In a pale blue taffeta ribbon with a long sash end under a long tunic of printed white chiffon, edged by a Maline lace, making two points on each side. The short round skirt is totally veiled by a gathered white tulle, hooped at the bottom by two rows of twisted blue taffeta ribbon and bows in the style.

Alma Gene Peltier, the Indianapolis singer who has won success in New York, will make her first Indianapolis appearance since her engagement in the east on the popular vaudeville biil at English's next week, when she will be seen as an added attraction. She left Indianapolis as understudy to Mine. Trentini. Since her engagement by Arthur Hammerstein Miss Peltier has sung with the "Spring Maid" company.
