1 " ' 1 " SOCIAL EVENTS FOR TUESDAY. A large dancing party will be given n the pavilion at Jackson park by Mr. Verlin Foland and Mr. Harry Smith. The Farley orchestra of Indianapolis will furnish the dance music. A meeting of the West Richmond Friends Aid Society will be held in the afternoon at the usual hour. Miss Florence McGuire will be hostess for a meeting of the Tuesday Bridge club at her home in East Main street. An ice-cream social will be given in the evening on the lawn at the North A Street Friends' church.
TO BE MARRIED. An important social event for the month of August will be the wedding Of Miss Ruth Thistlethwalte, (laughter of Mr. John I. Thistlethwalte, and Mr. Mark Pennell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark W. Pennell, of South Nineteenth gtreet. The wedding will be celebrated Monday evening, August fourth, at Ave o'clock, at the home of the bride's father, in North Eleventh street. Miss Thistlethwalte is a prominent young woman of this city. Mr. Pennell is also equally prominent both in social and business circles. The wedding Is being looked forward to with interest by their many friends in this city.
DINNER AT CLUB. Mr. Wiley Glass, Mr. Philip Starr, Mr. Earl Spangler and Mr. Huston Marlatt formed a dinner party at the Country club last evening.
TO JAMES LAKE. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Snaveley and little daughter, Miss Mary Louise, with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Umpleby have gone to James Lake, Angola! Indiana, where they will spend their vacation.
PICNIC AT PARK. The annual picnic of the Sunday school of First English Lutheran church will be held Wednesday afternoon at Glen Miller park. ' e members of the primary department will be taken to the park in automobiles. In case of rain the affair will be held Thursday afternoon.
THEATRE PARTY. Miss Ruth Scott gave a theatre party Saturday afternoon at the Murray to see "Alias Jimmy Valentine" as presented by the Francis Sayles players. The affair was in honor of several visiting guests. In the party were Miss Marguerite Downing of Chicago, Miss Isabel Downing of Pittsburg, Miss Ruth Boyer, Miss Colliver, Miss Margaret Wor8Cham of Terre Haute, Miss Miller of Miamisburg, Miss Anna Nicholson, Miss Ruth Scott, Misa Martha Scott, Miss Eleanor Seidel, Miss Ruth Hadley and Miss Hilda Kidder. After the performance the guests were served at Price's, a long table having been arranged at the rear of the apartment. The affair was one of the charming social functions of the day.
IS HOME. Miss Esther Griffin White has returned from Boston, Massachusetts, where- Bhe was called by the illness of her sister.
CAME HOME. Mrs. Howard Dill, Mr. Malcolm Dill with "Miss Eliisubetn Laws came down from Chicago yesterday.. The Dills have been visiting kinspeople at this place for a few weeks. Miss Laws will be their guest for several days.
A GUEST HERE. Little Miss Margaret Parry of Minneapolis has come to visit her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Mulford and other relatives in this city. Later she will be joined by her mother, Mrs. Edwin Parry.
PICNIC PARTY. A picnic party was given Friday afternoon by Mrs. Claud Carter at Glen Miller park. A six o'clock dinner was served. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Daugherty, whose marriage took place last Thursday, and Miss Louise Millikan and Claude Stanley, whose wedding is annouueed for August twelfth, and Miss Hilda Shute and Oakley Polk, who will be married next Thursday morning. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Daugherty, who were married this week, and Miss Louise Millikan and Mr. Claude Stanley, whose marriage will occur next month, the members of the young set will give a dinner Monday evening at the Bundy hotel. Elaborate plans have been made for the affair and it will be one of the most important social events of the summer. Newcastle Exchanges.
VISITING HERE. Mr. and Mrs. Hufford of Indianapolis are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Lee Hoover at their pretty home in South Eleventh street, for a fews.
GUESTS HERE. Miss Lola Plummer and Miss Dorothy Sinnett of Dayton, Ohio, are the guests of Miss Maude and Miss Nellie Becher for a few days at their home in South Sixteenth street.
ARE HERE. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bradbury of New York, have come for a fortnight's visit with Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Bradbury and other relatives. They will be guests at the Polk-Shute wedding which will be celebrated Thursday morning.
OF INTEREST. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Polk and son, well known Greenwood (Ind.) residents, who have been spending several days with friends at the Cushman, left this week for Charlevoix, where they will open their pretty summer home for the season. IN MICHIGAN. News from Wequetonsing, Michigan, says: Mrs. O. Carr of Richmond, Ind., and Miss Jennie Snider of Indianapolis, are sumering on Little Traverse Bay. Mrs. Edith Williams and Howard Campbell of Richmond, Ind., are arrivals from that city and will spend much of the summer here.
GAVE PARTY. Miss Blanche Bunker gave a pretty party Saturday evening at her home north of the city. The evening was spent socially and in playing games on the lawn. BY LA RACONTEUSE The bodice is a kimono, slightly blousing and opened on the frontright down to the waist to show a guimpe of crossed white chiffon, bordered by a narrow white net revers finished by a net pleated frill. The sleeves are long and finished by the same white frill over the hand the wrist being tightened by a bracelet ribbon of pale green taffeta. The draped ribbon making the best is of the same material, with two ends on the side front. The skirt is an over-piece model, opened on the side front, and draped by a broad fold below the left hip, the side and back showing on the other hip are effected by a round gathered basque, kept inside the skirt by a piping.
