1 For a trou. - IS ON IN GREENSFORK BY STAFF CORRESPONDENT. I GREENSFORK, Ind., May 22. i Sturdy little Greensfork, vlm of two , recent fires which destroyed property , valued at 100,000, a calamity which . would have daunted the courage of i much larger towns, is coming into her own again, and it is but a question of a few months until the burned struc- ; tures are rebuilt and occupied by prosperous business, assuring a better and larger town. Already one building has been erected, the office and residence of Dr. Kerr and a large two story structure, also owned by Dr. Kerr, for store room j purposes and flats above, is partially I completed. Work on the new cement block garage and auto repair shop of Ross Hiatt Is being rushed, and this I $2,000- building Is expected to be ready for occupancy In two weeks. Other I structures are contemplated which will ;cover the burned area with larger and more modern fireproof blocks, f The Greensfork Commercial club Is a live onte. The organization went to work immediately after the disastrous fires and now has capital interested which will finance the construction of the following buildings:' Odd Fellows building on Pearl street, to be a two Istory structure, to have store rooms In the lower floor, and to have lodge rooms iabove; K. of P. temple, on Pearl street, store rooms below and ' lodge rooms above. j W. L. Hatfield, a heavy loser in the fire, will rebuild a furniture store on the site of his former building. It will do two stories, used exclusively for furuituT salesrooms. These buildings will coyer the burned district on the north side of Pe'arl street, between Main and Green streets. i; Bruce Dunbar and Albert Kienzle contemplate erecting a single story fireproof building on Main street on the ground occupied before the last fire by millinery, grocery and notion atores and a restaurant. J. F. Claw son will use one of the rooms of the K. of P. Temple lor 'a moving picture thea. ter and will install a new liht plant in another one of the rooms. Engine House and Jail, v Next Monday the board of town trustees will consider erecting a building for the Are engine, to be used also as a Jail. A new steel cell has been ordered and will be installed as I soon as a jail is provided. fThe town was laid out about 1820 by Jonas Hatfield, becoming an incorporated village later, but finally giving Up its charter. It was re-incorporated In 1913. Four churches with large membership attest the excellent religious atmosphere of this town of 450 inhabitants, and the surrounding country. The streets are of gravel, well oiled and dustless. Cement sidewalks adorn nearly every street in town. The stores are clean and well stocked, and carry full lines of every necessity. An excellent school building for both the elementary grades and high school department was built three years ago at a cost of $12,000. The Wayne Lumber company is one of the largest institutions of its kind In the state, carrying a stock of lumber and other building materials valued at $50,000, and operates over a radius of fifteen miles. It is one of the main businesses of the town and does a large business. D. W. Harris & Co., poultry and feed dealers, are doing a large business, shipping an average of nine thousand dosens of eggs each week to eastern markets. They deal extensively in live poultry, feed and grain. . ; "Give us a little time, and we will have a bigger and better Greensfork," state the business men, all of whom are exceedingly optimistic over the future. WHAT MEN WILL ; WEAR THIS SPRING Men's spring suits are In beautiful Scotches, tweeds and casimeres, London grays, Oxford blues and browns. All this wealth of new weaves and colorings are combined with the staple blues and grays in serges and tweeds, but decidedly pretty are certain English effects in which a distinctive pattern Is produced by two tones of the same color blending Into the design. Over 600 styles in these new woolens at Emmons' Tailoring Company. Fine suits. $15, 41S, $24, and up. Corner Ninth-and Mam. - ". Advertisement

PRlNCCSS " ' FALL REMOVES BODY OF DEAD DOG FOR $1 The most peculiar claim allowed by the county commissioners within the last few years was the claim of a man living on the Williamsburg pike, north west of Richmond. The claim amounted to $1 and was for removing a dead dog from the roadway near his home. The claimant went to the auditor's office and asked if the dog could be removed. He was told to remove it, but said he did not want to do it for nothing. The matter was taken up with Commissioner Lindermuth who after consulting the county attorney stated the allowance could be taken from the free turnpike fund. The man made three trips to the city before the dog was removed. It took fifteen minutes to dispose of the carcass after the allowance was approved. The New York public library reported early in 1913 that practically eight million books circulated for home use during 1912. Richmond's best in music, 3 concerts for $1.00.
