BOOSTING HANSCHE FOR S. OF. V. OFFICE Richmond Members of Order Confident of His Election.

Twelve members of the Richmond Order Oi the Sons of Veterans will go to Indianapolis tomorrow to attend the annual encampment of the order, "which is being held in connection with the encampment of the G. A. R. The local delegates are boosting the candidacy of William Hansche for the office of department commander. Mr. Hansche is one of the most prominent members of the organization in this city. He is the present chairman of the division council of the state organization. He is the only avowed candidate for the office.

A petition with signatures of more than fifty free holders has been presented to the county auditor for the improvement of .North Twelfth street in part, North J street in part, and the Middleboro Pike, under the provisions of the "Three Mile" road law. It will be taken up by the county commissioners at the next regular session. The improvement will be one of the most important the commissioners will act upon this year. In all probability the road will be improved with a concrete roadway rather than macadam. Macadam ha? not proved satisfactory in this county and may eventually be given up by the county officials. The improvement will be 24 miles long.

A farewell service will be held at the First Presbyterian church on the evening of June 6 in honor of Ensign Herman 'Deuter of the Salvation Army who leaves this city for Detroit June 14. ; Ensign Deuter has been connected with the Salvation Army for many years. Mrs. Deuter will accompany her husband to Detroit, where they will be engaged in similar work after khey have had a "" furlough of two months. Mr. Deuter's ; successor in this city has not been appointed, as yet.
