BIG CHURCH MEETING ON AT ATLANTA
For First Time in History of U. S. Presbyterianism, All Branches Meet in Joint Assembly Today.
(Continued from Page One.) separated cities at different times of the year. Of considerable interest, particularly to the Northern branch of the church, will be the effort to bring the Union Theological seminary back into the fold. The sixteen delegates from New York, however, were elected on the pledge that they would ight to maintain the present state of the seminary. Charges of extravagance and usurpa
tion of authority against the board of
Home Missions of the Northern church will be investigated. Rev. Joseph L. Weaver, D. D., of Rocky Ford, Col., it is understood, has preferred the charges. Dr. William Fulton, of Philadelphia, is chairman of the investigating committee. An Interesting Contest. An interesting contest for the place of moderator of the Northern Assembly has developed, the leading candi
dates being Rev. Dr. Alexander of Pittsburg; Rev. Dr. Samuel S. Palmer, of Columbus, O.; Rev. Dr. William McKibbin, president of Lane Theological seminary, of Cincinnati, and Rev. Dr. Fredericy W. Hinitt, of Danville, Ky. The meeting of the assemblies in Atlanta has attracted to the city some of the notable men of the country, prominent not only In church affairs, but in national activities as well. United States Senator Hoke Smith will be present on Tuesday, May 20, and preside over a meeting for home missions. Some of the most prominent leaders of the Associate Reformed division of the church will be in attendance upon the assemblies, among them Dr. J. K. Pressley, of Statesville, N. C, moderator of the Associated reform branch. There will be a number of conferences at the various churches of the city. The main sessions, however, will be held at the Baptist tabernacle and the Auditorium. Joint Fellowship Gathering. At the opening meeting a joint fellowship gathering is to be held at the Auditorium at 8 o'clock. Rev. R. O. Flinn, pastor of the North Avenue
church of Atlanta will preside. A welcome address, will be delivered by J. K. Orr, an elder of the North Avenue church, after which fraternal greetings will be extended by the moderators of the four assemblies. The principal
address of the evening will be made by James McDonald, PhlD., of the Toronto Globe, Toronto, Canada, on "The Church's Responsibility for In
ternational Peace."
Under the direction of Rev. Dunbar
Ogden, pastor of Central Presbyterian church, Atlanta, a union communion
service will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Baptist tab
ernacle. The moderators of the four
assemblies will conduct the services.
Rev. Charles R. Stelzle, of New York and Marion Jackson of Atlanta, will

Anty Drudge "Why, blesa my soul ! Mrs. Old School, the washerwoman, has seen the light at last and . has adopted the FelsNaptha way of washing."
Grocer's Boy "She was forced to it, Anty Drudge. Mrs. Millionaire, her best customer, told her that if she didn't use Fels-Naptha ' Soap, she'd take her washing away. Was tired, she said, of having her clothes come back all yellow and some with streaks of dirt still in them." No sensible woman wants to do more work than is necessary to accomplish the best results. And yet There are women who take a full day to do the weekly wash when it can be done in half the time and far better and easier by using FelsNaptha Soap in cool or lukewarm water. Fels-Naptha way is easy and simple. Full direction are on tk red and preen wrapper.

CALGARY MAY HAVE. A CITY COAL MINE
Entertainment Mrs. Anna. Filer.
(National News Association) CALGARY, Alberta,. May 15. The power and development committee of the city council is considering the advisability of purchasing a municipal coal mine, and tenders for coal property requested by the city council, were received by the city clerk last week. A number of good properties at various distances from Calgary, not
exceeding one hundred miles, are offered to the city at prices ranging from $125,000 to $500,000. All these properties will be investigated at once by the committee.
The ideal of a municipal mine was advanced some time ago, but not until recently were steps taken to secure one. Three offers are now under consideration, as is also the scheme of city aldermen staking claims.
