DALBY REFUSED TO MOVE FROM GUTTER And Street Commissioner, Tired of Argument, Calls the Patrol. Because George Dalby, a one-legged man, refused to move from the gutter where he was lying, Street Commissioner D. ' C. Genn was forced to arrest him until his force of men could complete the sweeping of the street. J3alby waa intoxicated and refused to move when the city street cleaners lasked him to. The men called the street commissioner who finally bad the man removed after a delay of tortr minutes. v "Here pard, you gotta get out Qf here until We sweep the gutter." said i Vie Btreet commissioner. Dalby, however, refused to obey the command. Street Commissioner Genn argued with the man for some time but could not persuade him to move to a part of the gutter already clean. "Well, then," said Mr. Genn. "I guess I'll just arrest you." He then called for the patrol wagon to remove the man but it was found that the wagon had been sent to au. her call. The entire force employed cleaning the street left their work and helped guard the man for thirty minutes before the patrol ar'7ed, Jt was -found, then that Dalbv w unable to stand up with the aid of his crutch. He was lifted in the patrol ly tne rorce or street cleaners ana taken to the city Jail, where he fell to the cement floor asleep. City Statistics Births. Mr. and - Mrs. , Edward F. He is survived by his wife, Ella, 5 daughters and 2 sons. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Second Baptist church, North J street. Burial in Earlham cemetery. WILLIAMS The funeral of Granville Williams, 66, a former resident f Richmond, was held Monday afternoon at Marlon. Death was due to heart trouble. The late Mr. Williams la survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Studt. and four brothers, Chadler, Chris, James and Charles, all of this "city. The piece measures about 5 by 2Vi Inches and is framed to show both sides. Within an intricate leaf and branch border design, on the front "This indented bill of $2 shall entitle' the bearer thereof to receive bills of , exchange, payable in London, or gold and silver, at the rate of 4s. 6d. sterling per dollar for the said bill, according to the directions of an act of assembly of Maryland. Dated in Annapolis, this 10th day of April anno Domini, 1774. William Eddis H. Lapham." . In an upper corner of the reverse Side Li a picture, about an iuch and a half square, representing the British crown, at each side of which is a tiny picture of a man. One of the men is represented as holding a spade, while from the hand of the other dangled a fish on a 6tring. REPUBLICANS MEET To Reorganize City Committee Tonight. Republicans of the city will meet this evening at 7:30 o'clock in the council chamber at the call of Elam Hill, city chairman, for the purpose of re-organizing the city committee and disposing of any other matters which may come before the meeting. It is highly probable that the committee will discuss the question as to whether the Republicans will place a city ticket i in the field, and as to how a city ticket should be nominated.
