TO ASK WEST SIDE TO HANDLE PROJECT
Dr. Bond Desires Association to Direct Plans For Raising Funds.
A HOSPITAL IS NEEDED
For Tuberculosis Patients Here, He Says Location Selected.
(
TO ORGANIZE TONIGHT
Meeting of "Dorm" Men At Y. M. C. A.
The West Side Improvement associa
tion has been asked to take up the
proposition of fostering and promoting the proposed new Tuberculosis Hospital to be located on the grounds near the Reid Memorial hospital. The matter was submitted to the association today in a resolution presented by Dr. S. Edgar Bond, of the Wayne Couaty Anti-Tuberculosis Society. Though it is realized that this is hardly the proper time for the campaign for funds for the hospital, it is proposed that the West Side association take up the matter as soon aa they deem it advisable and start a campaign to raise funds for the project. The manner in which the association handled the scarlet fever matter in this city during the last few months was commended by the members of the Anti-Tuberculosis society. It is believed that if the Anti-Tuberculosis campaign is handled in a similar manner it will be far reaching in its effect and will be a auccess. The campaigners may be handicapped as a result of the donations recently given flood victims. More than $6,000 was raised in this city and vicinity. According to Dr. Bond, a6 many persons die in Wayne county in one year as were drowned in the Dayton flood. "If the people can give so liberally to this good cause, we may expect to receive a liberal donation for the hospital fund," he said. The county council and commissioners will be called upon for an appropriation for approximately $1,000. This sum the members of the society believe should be granted as soon as the authorities are apprised of the good which will be derlvefl from an institution of this kind. Already $300 in money and pledges has been received. ' No tuberculosis patients are received at the Reid memorial hospital nor are they received at most of similar hospitals of the state. ' Of the 200 or 250 persons who contracted scarlet fever, but two deaths were direcUy caused by the disease though three others were so weakened that they died from the after effects. During the same length of time, 45 persons died from the ravages of tuberculosis, Pr. Bond says.
TALK ON MISTAKES OF A GARDEN LIFE A large crowd was at the Baptist church last night to hear Evangelist Williams speak on "The Mistakes of a Garden Life." "The great mistake of a Garden life." he said, "was made
in the Garden of Eden -when the mother and father of the race made the mistake of believing Satan instead of God. The effects of this mistake are still with us and the great work of the church today Is to rectify that mistake by persuading men to believe God and accept his forgiveness in Jesus Christ. When Christians fail to let others know about God's offer of pardon and men die without hope, the responsibility is upon the one who failed to tell of the Savior. When Jesus told his people that they were the salt of the earth and the light of the world, he meant that his life in them was to preserve and enlighten the world. Men read the lives of Christians more than they do the Bible, and it is from their lives that Christianity is judged." The subject tonight will be, "Our Estimate of Great Men." A men's prayer meeting will be held In the Brotherhood room of the church at 7:15, preceding the meeting.
A meeting of all the men living in the dormitories at the Y. M. C. A. will be held tonight at the association building for the purpose of establishing a permanent organization. Officers will be elected tonight and a constitution will be adopted by the club. It is expected that there will be about 50 members. The meeting will be in charge of H. S. Weed, secretary of the association until officers are elected. Speeches will be made by several dormitory men. The purpose of the club is to estab
lish a better social feeling and to aid in a general development of the association idea. Club suppers will be held at the "Y" every two weeks by the members of the club.
WALLACE DEMANDS HIS OWN ARREST Man Said He Desired to Have the Chance to "Sober Up."
SPINS PATIENT TO PREVENT ANY PAIN
(National Now? Association) CHICAGO, April 16 "Spinning a patient into dizzy unconsciousness and insensibility to pain," was a method explained to the Chicago dental society which shocked the whole dental profession of Chicago today. Dr. L. L. Funk was the ' author of the "drugless anaesthetic." He explained the working of his Invention, which is a spool-like device, to which the patient is strapped and whirled until unconscious. Another method of producing insensibility to pain, was to place the patient on a round table with his head in the center. Centrifugal force applied in the whirling draws the blood from the head and produces unconsciousness.
After having been intoxicated since last Friday, Henry Wallace, 510 South Fifth street, a plasterer, came into police headquarters this afternoon and asked to be locked up in the jail in order that he might be given the opportunity to "sober up." He stated that he has been trying to stop drinking, but has been unable to. Last Friday he said, he became intoxicated and since that time has not been home. "I've had a struggle with drink," he said, "but it has beaten me. Lock me up until I sober up and can go to work without danger of getting on a drunk. If you do this for me you will be assisting my family." He was locked up in the city jail. Further disposition will be made of the case tomorrow morning in police court by Mayor Zimmerman.

CURED TERRIBLE HUMOR ON FACE Could Not Go On Strett Without Veil. Tells What Realnol Did For Her. . Philadelphia, Dec. 6. 1912. "In December 1908, my face became sore. I tried eyerything that was recommended, and my face sot worse instead of better. I spent over $100 and got no benefit. The face and nose were very red and the eruption had the appearance of small boils, which itched me terribly. I cannot tell you how terrible my face looked all I can say is, Jt was dreadful, and I suffered beyond description . "I have not gone on the street any time since 1908 without a veil, until now. Just four months ago a friend persuaded me to give Resinol a trial. I have used three cakes of Resinol Soap and less than a jar of Resinol Ointment, and my face is perfectly free from any eruption, and my skin is as clear and clean as any child's. It Is about four weeks since the last pimple disappeared." (Signed) Mrs. M. J. Bateraan. 4256. Viola St. - Nothing we can say of Resinol equals what others, such as Mrs. Bateman, say of it.
