Preparations are being made for a

hard fought battle for the presidencygeneral of the Daughters of the American Revolution by Mrs. William Cummings Story of New York and Mrs. John Miller Horton of Buffalo, when the annual convention of that organization opens at Washington on Monday. Mrs. Story has been there

'for more than a week in active man

agement of her campaign. Many Indiana members of the D. A. R. will attend the convention. Deljegations from this state will have itheir headquarters in the same hotel. iMrs. W. W. Gaar is the only member of the Richmond chapter who will attend. The question of woman suffrage I may enter largely into the situation. iMrs. Story is strongly opposed to introducing suffrage into V. A. R. circles and will make her fight on that stand. Recently she made her position upon that subject most clear in these words: "There is no place for suffrage in the ranks of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Any attempt to make that an issue at the coming election is certain to meet deIfeat." Opposing factions in the fight for
