WATER RECEDING. (Report received over telephone in Richmond traction office at 2:00 o'clock). DAYTON, O. The .water in the streets of this city is receding at the rate of one foot an hour, although at this time the water at Third and Main streets is ten feet deep.

ATTEMPTS TO RAI8E MONEY. (Report received over telephone in Richmond traction office, at 1:50 o'clock). EATON, O. A local grocer has $500 worth of groceries which he can send to Dayton, but refuses to allow the goods to leave his place of business until he receives money for the provisions. Attempts are being made by local people to raise this amount in order to alleviate suffering in the stricken city.

McCULLOUGH AT DAYTON (Report received over telephone in Pennsylvania railroad office, 1 o'clock) DAYTON, O., March 26. Supt. McCullough, of the Richmond Division of the Pennsylvania reached Dayton this morning and after an examination of the bridge over the little Miami reported that it seemed to be same and that it was possible that they would get a train out of Dayton late this afternoon or tonight. At noon today the water had receded until it was below the level of the bridge. (Report received over telephone in Richmond traction office, 2:15 o'clock)

supplied with food end watr There is no drinking water to be obtained. Many people are drinking the muddy and dirty water in the streets. In one church in this city laat ntghl five babies were bora. Of a van load of sixteen persons, who hastily jumped aboard the truck yesterday afternoon, but two women, two men and three children were saved. The others were drowned In the streets. The C. H. & D. tracks for one mile north and one mile south of Dayton has been washed away. Miami City is badly in need of help. A number of people, crowded into a dancing academy here last night were drowned. A building in which was located a bakery, clothing store and fruit store collapsed this morning. DAYTON, O. Troy, Miamisburg, West Carleton and Tippecanoe City are reported here to have been wiped off the may. Troy has a population of 7,000; Miamisburg, 10,000; Tippecanoe City, 2,000; and West Carleton, 1,soo. At this time there is from seven to eight feet of water in front of the Y. W. C. A.

To the Traveling Public: The G. R. & I. is now open between Richmond and Ridgeville and it is their intention to run their local trains, No. 7 and 12, and 3 and 2 between these points until the line north of Ridgeville is open. The Indianapolis division is open between Richmond and Indianapolis and an accommodation . train. No. 32. will be run as far as Richmond and return to Indianapolis as No. 33, leaving Richmond as near on time, 10:30 a. m., as possible, the arrangement to be cantinued each day if conditions will permit. The line Is open between Richmond and Anoka Junction but on account of high water we are unable to run trains

between Anoka Junction and Logansport, which precludes the possibility of any through service to and from Chicago for at least twenty-four hours. The condition of the line between Camden and Cincinnati is such that it will be at least forty-eight hours before we can give any service to Cincinnati, but will continue train No. 34 to Camden, leaving at 10:00 a. m. this morning and this train will return, Camden to Richmond as train No. 35 and will continue through to Anoka Junction. Both of the lines between Richmond and Columbus, Ohio, via Pi qua and via Dayton are still closed on account of the serious trouble between Richmond and New Paris, where two large bridges are badly damaged. On account of relief trains from Pittsburgh and St. Louis being delayed by some unlooked for trouble, it will be at
