BETWEEN 25 AND 60 GUESTS AT OMAHA HOTEL ABE BURNED

Most Conservative Estimate of the Loss of. Life, Made By Police in Morning Was Over 25.

(Continued from Pago One.) of dead may never be known, as the night clerk stated that probably a dozen guests were not registered. The hotel was completely destroyed, the loss being estimated at half a million dollars. The alley wall fell, and the others, cracked by the heat, were in danger of collapsing at any minute. Up to noon, only about forty persons had been accounted for. Of these, six were dead. Many injured had been taken to the hospitals and several others escaped with slight injuries or unscathed. Many persons were reported to have been seen at the windows, only to fall back into the flames a mpment later. The victims thus far identified were either citizens of Omaha or nearby towns and included several women.

PIMPLY WELL, DON'T BE!

People Notice It. Drive Them Off With Olive Tablets.

IT'S WONDERFUL Have you been up around the corner of Tenth an,d Main and did you notice the displays of woolens for Kaster Suits for Men at $15 no more, no less made to measure. Douglas Tailoring Co.

A pimply face will not embarass you much longer if you get a package of Dr. Edward's Olive Tablets. The pimples will vanish after you have taken the tablets a few nights. Nothing ever cleansed the blood, the bowers and the liver lika Olive Tablets. Olive Tablets are the only successful substitute for calomel they oil the bowels; there's never any sickness or pain after taking them. Olive Tablets do all that calomel does and just as effectively, but their action ia gentle and eafe instead of severe and irritating. No one who takes Olive Tablets is ever cursed with a "dark brown taste," a bad breath, a dull, listless, "no good" feling, constipation, torpid liver, bad disposition or pimply face. Olive Tablets are made of pure vegetable compounds mixed with olive oil. Dr. Edmonds spent years, among patients afflicted with liver and bowel complaints, and Olive Tablets are the immensely effective result. Try them. Take one nightly for a week. Then lok at yourself in the glass and pee how you feel. 10c and 25c per box. The Olive Tablet Company, Columbus, Ohio. (Advertisement)

MORTGAGES RELEASED

Recorder's Office Busy Duririg February. Contrary to what might have been enpected, the month of February was a busier one at the office of the county recorded than the preceeding month. More mortgages were released on both city property and farm lands during the past month than during the month of January. The number of re-

town and the log house served the purpose of a county jail for several years. During the year of 1817, the town of Centerville took from the Salisbury court house, the county records and the county seat was moved

! to that town, where it remained until

! it was brought to Richmond in 1S73 in a similar manner.

When the county seat was taken from Salisbury, the town was rapidly deserted, most of the residents tearing down their houses and moving them to Richmond, only three miles distant. In 1818 the Salisbury court

I house was moved to its present locajtion at 38 North Fifth street, then

known as Pearl street. Since that time

the house has gradually been added to until it reached its present dimensions. Allen Grave says that he has lived

in the house since 1S49, when his father moved here from a farm north of Richmond. The house was purchased at that time for a fe dollars and was the original log cabin which was used at Salisbury for a court house, no additins having been built to it previous to the time Mr. Grave bought it. The house contains only walnut and poplar logs which are in a perfect state of preservation. The first "chinking" which was placed in the spaces between the logs was mud. Part of this is still intact, but most of it is now

covered up with a more recent "filler." The stairway leading to the second floor is narrow and circular, the same which was used in the old court house. All of the window sills ia the house are more than a foot thick.which is necessary because of the thickness of the logs. Only one of the original doors remains, that having been taken from the old Salisbury county jail. It Is several inches thick and is made entirely of walnut. The door has been in use for more than a century and probably received rough treatment when it was used at the Salisbury jail. The stair leading to the cellar affords the best view of the old logs which are exposed at that point. From

the cellar the original beams of the house can be seen. Three inch walnut boards were used for the purpose. They are still as good as though plac

ed only a few years ago. The whole

house is one of the most solidly built in the city and will probably stand for several more scorvs of years.

Investigations by Dell O. Davis of the city civil engineering department and Allen Grave, bring to light some of the early history of Wayne County, chief among them being the discovery that the Salisbury Court house, built in 1811, is being used as a modern dwelling house in this city. From all appearances outside and inside, the residence, located 1 at 38 North Fifth street, and owned by Allen Grave is a new and up to date house, but closer observation reveals the original logs used at the old court house in 1811. The first county seat was Salisbury, then a village located about one mile west of the present corporation line of Richmond on the National road. The village was incorporated and the court house built in 1810 and 1811. Two years later a jail was built at the
