ROAD TO LAUGHTERTOWN. Would ye learn the road to Laughtertown, Oh ye who have lost the way? Would ye have young heart though your bafr be gray? Go learn from a little child each day. Go serve his wants and play his play. And watch the lilt of his laughter gay. And follow his dancing feet as they stray; For he knows the road to Laughtertown, Oh, ye who have lost the way! Katherine D. Blake. PRETTY PARTY. One of the most charming social events for Monday was the pretty child's party given yesterday afternoon by Mrs. Isaac Smith, when she took this means of entertaining in honor of her little daughter. Miss Mary Elizabeth Smith's fifth birthday anniversary, at the Smith home in South Twelfth street. Mrs. Smith was assisted In entertaining by Mrs. A. L. Bramkamp, Mrs. Lee Nusbaum, Mrs. F. W. Krueger and Mrs. Anna Heitbrink. The Quickest, Simplest Cough Cure ,:. SHly and Cheaply' Made at Home, Bavea Tea 92. This recipe makes a pint of cough syrup enough to last a family a long time. You couldn't buy as much, or as good cough syrup for $2.50. Simple as it is, it gives almost instant relief and usually stops the most obstinate cough in 24 hours. This is partly da to the fact that it is slightly laxative, stimulates the appetite and has an excellent tonic effect. It is pleasant to take children like it. An excellent remedy, too, for whooping cough, croup, sore lungs, asthma, throat troubles, etc. Jlix one pint of granulated sugar with pint of warm water, and stir for 2 minutes. Put 2,4 ounces of Pinex ( fifty cents' worth) in a pint bottle, and add the Sugar Syrup. It keeps perfectly. Take a teaspoonful every, one, two or three hours. Pine is one of the oldest and best known remedial agents for the throat membranes. Pinex is the most valuable concentrated compound of Norway white pine extract, and is rich in guaiacol and all the other natural healing, elements. Other preparations will not work in this formula. The prompt results from this recipe have endeared it to thousands of housewives in the United States and Canada, which explains why the plan has been imitated often, but never successfully. A guaranty of absolute satisfaction, or money promptly refunded, goes with this recipe. Your druggist has Pinex, or will get it for von. If not, send to The pinex Co., Ft. Wayne, Ind.

There are glooms for us to grouch in with complainings and frowns, but there is also sunshine for us to stride in with a smile and a song. Did you ever notice that the people who are always complaining of things are always simply unendurable. They bave few friends. I heard a woman remark the other day. "Oh I never pay any attention to what she says. She simply has to talk about some one." Now that is a pretty hard thing to say of the one but maybe she deserved it. If you and the world don't seem exactly fitted to each other, don't attempt to make over the world and the people in it. The world treats you just like you treat the world. Try making over yourself. Lop off some of your conceit and selfishness. Don't think you know all about everything. You are never too old .to learn you know. The world at worst is no worse than we have made it and the best that we deserve. It came from the Creator clean. Sin came only with man and has developed into multitudinous forms. The plea of the pessimist is necessarily a play upon loosed passions. He dare not appeal to reason, because to reason is to cease to be a pessimist. The people who have a "mean disposition" as we say always have a chip on their shoulder. You never could : please them. This is especially notlce(able in some coffee. There are a very! The effect of D. P. r. is to soothe infetantly, as soon as applied; then it pene- , trates the pores, destroys and throws I off all disease germs and leaves the I skin clean and healthy. We are so confident of the marvelous power of D.D.D. that we have taken advantage of the manufacturers guarantee, to offer you a full-size bottle on trial. You are to Judge the merits of t the remedy In your own particular caa. If it doesn t help you, it costs you nothing. D.D.D. Soap is made of the same healing Ingredients.
